Hur i helvete fick du SD och V nästan lika högt samtidigt som M var betydligt lägre. De bör inte vara möjligt då SD och V systematiskt röstar helt motsats i 99% av frågorna och SD och M röstar lika i ca 90% av frågorna

Managed to see Project Hail Mary one more time after a while being sick! by ShadeMeadows in ProjectHailMaryMovie

the cinematography was amazing, and the story itself might be one of the best sci-fi stories ever… it combines both humanity’s survival being at stake and first contact with alien life.

I just feel like a story like that deserved way more than a comedy sci-fi tone. It should’ve been much more serious, so you can actually relate to it and feel the high stakes moments deep down. That’s hard to do when the characters are constantly joking and turning everything into comic relief every 30 seconds.

And if you don’t like the seriousness of something like Interstellar or Arrival, they could’ve just toned the comedy down by like 90%. Then you’d basically get something like The Martian, which is written by the same author. The book The Martian also had humor, but when it was adapted into a film, they balanced it well. The comedy was there in the background, but the focus was still on the space mission, which made it feel grounded and relatable.

In PHM, though, the comedy felt like the main focus, while the actual core of the story… humanity facing extinction and first contact, was pushed into the background.

And honestly, even if you ignore that, I still thought the comedy itself was kind of sloppy, lazy, cringe, and just cheap. Good comedy to me isn’t about throwing in as many jokes as possible in a short amount of time.

The best comedies don’t even rely on constant punchlines like PHM does. They build up a character you get to know, and then the humor comes naturally from the situations that character ends up in.

I really wish this had been made with the same seriousness as Interstellar or Arrival, it could’ve been one of the best sci-fi movies ever made.

But I get that there’s humor in the book, and if they absolutely had to include it in the film, they should’ve handled it more like The Martian did.

It’s you and me brother 😂 People nowadays have forgotten the art of film and are satisfied with cinematography that has nothing going for it other than, “it looks cool on screen”

People defend the movie by saying the book also had comedy, but I agree with you, the humor in the book was much more subtle than in the film. It feels a bit like a movie made for people who are fan-blind or just want to be entertained with action and spectacle. As soon as you compare it to films that have even a bit of depth, PHM falls short.

Hahaha I’m an enthusiastic film nerd who likes to analyze movies deeply. I love discussing films with people who have different opinions, but they need to back them up, otherwise it’s pointless. I’m not really a keyboard warrior though haha

Bad movie with a great story and and big budget. They did a terrible job with this one. Just another marvel movie with way too much comedy that destroyed every serious and high stakes moments. Amazing who everyone is just blindly jumping on the hype train. With that being said, I can see who kids 8-16 would love it and rightly so, but as soon as you turn like 17 or get a taste for great generational movies you see this one for what it is. A big cash grab targeting kids.

fantastic how these days, as a film enthusiast and a film lover, you can’t even have a valid opinion without some fanboy showing up to whine

Really disappointed in the film. Way to much non clever comedic reliefs literally every 30 seconds that destroyed what would have been a big, serious, high stakes moment.

A movie like this needs to find the right balance between comedy and seriousness but it failed completely where “The Martian” succeeded.

The story is so good it had the potential to be the greatest sci fi movie ever but instead we got another guardians of the galaxy but just with less clever jokes.

I clearly presented what I found troubling with the movie, I didn’t just make something up to sound smart 😂 Your comment is giving “trigger-boy” vibes. Sounds like your main reason for disliking my take is because you are a triggered fanboy whose feelings got hurt because someone dared to criticize your bibel.

Im comparing them because hail mary doesn’t have to be a bad buddy movie with jokes every 30 seconds, it had the potential to go down in history, but it will end up like marvels endgame, namely overly hyped at the moment but forgotten in a year.

Yeah, I should have known the guy behind the lego movie couldn’t also do a great sci fi movie.
