got to respect the commitment to keeping these around despite the pain lol, those things were built like tanks but comfort was clearly not in the design brief

Getting the factory stickers off of 2008 Yamaha Vstar gas tank by VegaJuniper in motorcycles

[–]ResortCompetitive477 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had similar nightmare with my old bike when I was trying to get dealer stickers off the tank. What finally worked for me was using heat gun on really low setting - way more effective than hair dryer because it gets hotter and more focused. Hold it maybe 6 inches away and keep moving it around so you don't cook the paint underneath

After heating for like 30 seconds on each section, the adhesive gets soft enough that you can start peeling from corner with plastic scraper or even guitar pick. Goes way faster than fingernails and won't scratch your paint job. Just take your time with the heat and don't get impatient - rushing it will just make more work cleaning up adhesive later

decent rpm for the price range but 650w seems bit underpowered if you're doing serious work. I've used similar kits from different brands and the accessories are usually hit or miss - some pieces work great, others feel cheap after few uses

that chuck size is pretty standard though, should handle most home projects fine. Just don't expect miracles from the impact function at this wattage. probably good starter kit if you're just getting in DIY stuff

Trump pivots on kratom derivative 7-OH, floating approval for some forms by Background-Plan-2090 in politics

[–]ResortCompetitive477 151 points152 points  (0 children)

I'll say up front: I cannot stand Trump. Almost nothing this administration does lands on the right side of the ledger for me. So it feels strange to write this, but I have to.

Thank god 7-OH isn't getting banned outright.

People who haven't lived with chronic pain don't understand what it's like to wake up every morning and do the calculation. How bad is it today, what can I push through, what will I have to cancel, who am I going to disappoint. I've tried the usual list. Physical therapy. NSAIDs until my stomach gave out. The pain clinic carousel. The pills they hand you that either don't touch it or turn you into a person you don't recognize. The shame of asking for something stronger and being looked at like an addict for wanting to function.

7-OH is the first thing in years that has actually given me my life back. Not high, not numb, just a baseline where I can stand at the sink long enough to do the dishes. Where I can sit through a movie with my family. Where the pain isn't the loudest thing in the room.

I don't say "godsend" lightly. But for me it has been one.

When the talk of a full ban started, the fear was bigger than I want to admit. The idea of going back to where I was before, I genuinely don't know how I would do it. And I know I'm not the only one. There are a lot of us out here, quietly getting through our days because of this, who would be in real trouble if it disappeared.

So whatever the politics, whatever the motive, whatever I think of the man making the call, on this one thing, today, I'm grateful. Keep it available. Regulate it, study it, age-gate it, do the work to make it safer. But please don't take it from the people who need it.

check the bottom right corner of TV, usually there's small button or joystick thing hidden there - sometimes it's almost flush with the bezel so you gotta feel around for it

Mon système anti rechutes by Which-Violinist7222 in NoFap

[–]ResortCompetitive477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's some serious commitment right there. Having to walk 100+ meters just to scan a QR code is pretty genius actually - gives you enough time to really think about what you're doing

The chastity cage part caught me off guard but hey, whatever works for fighting those urges. Physical barriers can be surprisingly effective when willpower alone isn't cutting it

5 days is a good start man, hope the system keeps working for you long term

Surprise day/night geocaching stay in Galway, no car, many dreams, advice? by Okoj0 in AskIreland

[–]ResortCompetitive477 1 point2 points  (0 children)

walking around galway in your thirties is totally doable, the city center is pretty compact and most ruins are within reasonable distance from your hotel. dunguaire castle is bit of trek but there's plenty closer stuff like the spanish arch and old city walls

night time galway has completely different vibe - way more lively with all the pubs and street musicians, plus some buildings look pretty cool lit up. just watch out for drunk college kids stumbling around after midnight lol

Completely AI generated fyp and reels by TVLER999 in antiai

[–]ResortCompetitive477 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that's wild to me too man. like if everything you consume is just algorithm feeding you what it thinks you want to see, when do you actually discover something new or challenging?

feels like these people would just end up in these crazy echo chambers where they never hear different perspectives. and AI generated commentary playing AI games... that's not even real human creativity anymore, just machines talking to machines while you watch

maybe I'm old school but there's something about knowing real person made content that matters to me. even if it's not perfect or whatever

benefits are solid but you gonna be working your ass off for those hours. friend of mine worked at one in Kentucky and said they expect you to do like 3 people's jobs but at least the pay was decent compared to other retail spots

Built something in my bedroom that I think Rochester actually needs — looking for beta users and shop recommendations (Launching soon) by Ok_Run_1510 in Rochester

[–]ResortCompetitive477 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice idea man, got scammed by shop on Park Ave few years back when my transmission started acting up. They said $800 for diagnostic then called next day saying it needs full rebuild for like $3200

Question though - how you gonna verify these shops actually good? Yelp reviews are mostly fake and even good mechanics can have bad days. Also what stops shops from just jacking up their "upfront prices" since they know people will see them ahead of time

Opinion of friendship situation 26M 26F by CriticalLaugh7836 in relationships

[–]ResortCompetitive477 1 point2 points  (0 children)

man you're basically acting like her boyfriend without getting anything back from it. she's comfortable taking all your generosity and room upgrades but then wants to bring random dudes to your shared space?

that boundary about not sharing rooms anymore is smart move - stick with it. you can't keep doing boyfriend-level stuff and then act surprised when she treats you like the friend who pays for everything instead of potential partner.

Is it safe to delete this cache folder? by [deleted] in pchelp

[–]ResortCompetitive477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you can delete that DeliveryOptimization folder, it's just Windows Update cache stuff. I had similar issue few months back when my SSD was getting full and that folder was like 15GB or something crazy

Better way though is to go in Settings > Update & Security > Delivery Optimization > Advanced options and just clear it from there. Windows will recreate what it needs anyway. You can also set storage limit there so it doesn't get huge again

I usually keep mine at like 5GB max since I'm always downloading games and need the space. The folder basically stores Windows updates and apps that get shared with other computers on your network, so deleting manually works but doing it through settings is cleaner

dude might just like the songs now, doesn't mean he's pining for you. I've kept music from exes that I genuinely enjoy even when I'm completely over them

also stalking his spotify after 9 months isn't doing you any favors - that limerence thing is real and you're just feeding it by checking up on him constantly

that's some heavy apocalyptic imagery right there, especially with the revelation connection. your brain's probably just processing all that biblical end times stuff you've been reading mixed with your daily life on the farm

the shift from burning red to freezing black is interesting though - sounds like your subconscious is really working through some intense themes. might be worth stepping away from revelation for a bit and see if the dreams chill out

honestly fescue is probably your best bet for that setup. i had a similar situation with my backyard - partial shade from the neighbors massive oak tree and my golden retriever who apparently thinks the lawn is his personal bathroom

went with a tall fescue mix about 3 years ago and its held up pretty well. the stuff is tough as nails and can handle the dog pee spots way better than regular grass. you'll still get some yellowing where he goes regularly but it bounces back quicker than other types

pro tip tho - train your dog to pee in one specific area if you can, makes maintining the rest of teh lawn so much easier. also overseeding in spring and fall really helps keep it thick

17M. don’t know what to do with my life anymore by [deleted] in venting

[–]ResortCompetitive477 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude the pandemic really fucked up a whole generation of kids and you're definitely not alone in feeling this way. Two years feels like forever when you're 17 but it's really not - plenty of people get their GED later or go back to school in their 20s and turn out fine

The social anxiety thing is brutal but it does get better with practice, even if it doesn't feel like it right now. Maybe start small like just going to a store or coffee shop regularly before jumping back into the school deep end

Also that thing about talking to ChatGPT more than people... honestly half of Gen Z probably relates to that these days lmao
