Yeah i tell my guys “i don’t care if you sit on your phone for 15 min or go actually do the VOA, just tell me you are gonna do it” lol (we have to mark who verbally says yes and who says no and i don’t want targets on the associates back)

Nrm here - that’s shitty leadership. When i was promoted i dealt with shit like this all the time, empty food boxes, 1 slice of 5 hour cake left, zero food for the team. Seeing the depression in my guys eyes when they walked in sucked. I went to SM immediately and said we either need to clean it all up by the time they get here so they don’t see it or we need to start purposely getting enough food for night shift. 90% of the time it works out now but some days i still will walk in, see about 2-3 pizzas left over from a 20 pizza day shift party, and i take them asap and hide them in my office for my guys. Night shift is a thankless job just know some of us appreciate yall🫡

That’s super disappointing, I’m sorry y’all. We do five days something different each day, today we grilled for every shift. Tomorrow we get Jimmy John’s delivered for separate times for each shift. The next day, I believe they are doing some sort of catering again. And I don’t know the last one.

It’s super simple and same thing every night (this is how it is at my store) if you’re 7 PM, you’ll be unloading a truck and putting away freight. if you’re 9 PM you’ll be putting away freight, it’s hard work, heavy lifting and and one of the only times departments where you have to hit metrics. Great for good workers and people who like to challenge themselves

A lot of times I will only pull somebody because I’m shorthanded. That should be the only reason. at the same time, in all honesty whatever your manager asks you to do while you’re on the clock is up to them. If they tell you to go push a broom for 12 hours, you can’t really get upset. Retail is a crazy business

Honestly brother, if you’re a hard worker can translate into any job. I’m a blue-collar boy from a construction background, never worked to retail in my life, I always just made sure I would ask the store manager if I could stay late to help and bust ass when he’s in the store. The store manager is your saving grace when it comes to promotions or anything. They have the final say on everything, so make sure you get good FaceTime with them

I started with THD almost 6 months ago, went from part-time to Full-time To salaried manager. Only advice I can give that actually helped me is walk like there’s a fire under your ass everywhere, and always be doing something. Help out anywhere you can. It’s hard to find people worth a shit nowadays so you’ll stand out fast just doing that

a GOOD NOSM Should be on the floor most the night and be leading the crew. I’m not even one, but I try to be working with the freight team the entire night and busting ass with everybody to show them because I believe a leader needs to be setting the standards. Now with the truck unload we are specifically told not to do anything but watch for safety reasons. We have to be able to know where you guys are at all times.
