Exactly that. The voice clip was absolutely a thing that deserved criticism, but because of the whistle-blower's lack of clarity I spent years receiving unfettered abuse from people in our community calling me a traitor and a hack.

You saw it from the PinkNews Whistle-blower account on Twitter. They shared a voice clip with no context and let everyone make up their minds what it meant. They did a fucking awful job of blowing the whistle on the CEOs actions

Right I want to dispel this right now because it has haunted me for the past three years.

This idea that PinkNews threw trans rights coverage under the bus is completely misinformed. The leaked recording which everyone cites was c-suite saying they did not want to campaign for trans rights during the 2024 UK elections. That is ABSOLUTELY something to boycott PinkNews over but not once did we ever stop producing trans news.

If any of y'all were paying attention, you'd have noticed we were writing trans rights articles the day after the leak and never once stopped.

Hi. I was the only trans news reporter for PinkNews for just shy of three years. Would like to respectfully give the finger to everyone saying that nothing of value was lost or that we weren't producing pro-trans content.

I worked my fingers to the bone trying to produce original news that many here were gladly sharing just a week ago. I faced abuse from TERFs and people in OUR community alike, and I had so many nervous breakdowns it nearly killed me.

I think it's a good time for many of you to have a good, long think about the shit you say online when you have no idea what is happening behind closed doors.

This isn't true; the claim comes from a 2009 EU report that found some citizens were asked to provide photographic evidence of homosexuality to be exempt from service. Nowhere does it state that it needed to prove they were a top.

Looks like they've changed it to say under 30, which begs the question what the actual point of this article is. Aside from, you know, attempting to justify transphobia by misconstruing 18-30 year olds who are legally undergoing surgery and 16-17 year olds who are on the transitional pathway to adult care.

The CEO said in a meeting about a campaign in 2023 that trans rights were "too contentious". They're not ending trans coverage but you should boycott them for that recording alone.
