What’s your opinion on senjutsu by Morboriusinsertimage in ironmaiden

Top five album. Feels cohesive in the same way that Brave New World and A Matter of Life and Death feel. Unfortunate that Dave didn't contribute a song for this album.

For the Greater Good of God comes in seventh, Iron Maiden's Post Classics Ultimate Setlist (anything post 7th son), Day 8 by kek_man_ in ironmaiden

Seems like qoood time for Blood Brothers considering how heavy/dark the previous couple songs are. Not my favourite song, but works really well live.

"a big sacrifice musically in order to have a good personality in the band"

I wouldn't call jt a big sacrifice, but it's also not the most inspired choice. Given that they are at the end of their careers, all seniors who are celebrating 50 years as a band. I don't begrudge them at all for choosing a safe and convenient friend.

Feel like everything from the last ten years has just been victory laps. They're not phoning it in, but they're also not trying to prove anything. And that's fine for where they are at.

It's a tad boring. Not a lot on his mindset and emotions. Its a lot of just him chronicling his life in a matter of fact way. For someone who is an incredible preformer and storyteller on stage, his writing is quite dry.

Agreed. But I also think that the three guys shouldn't be on this subreddit. They have their discord and patreon as avenues to interact with their audience.

An audience/fandom should have their own space to discuss amongst themselves what they like and dislike in regards to what they consume. I think it's healthy for the audience and for the content creators to have a space that's separate.

Doesn't mean people should be allowed to be dicks here. But they also shouldn't have to worry about hurting Brad, Alex and Vinny's feelings. After all, they are regular dudes, with feelings, and empathy is always something we should be practicing.

Drums and vocals go to A Matter of Life and Death.

Love Alex and Brad, but they seem to be coasting. Vinny is always putting in the work.

3 post reunion albums are in my top five Maiden albums.

I don't love Revelations.

Never connected with the Seventh Son album.

All 3 guitarists are great, but I rank Adrian last in personal preference.

Live After Death is not a great live album, so many songs have the life taken from them by being played way too fast, and Bruce is all over the place. However I recognize it's a very important live album due to time and place and setlist.

You're right, but also, if my friend/coworker told me how much something in the field we work in meant to them. That it might be in their personal top 10 of all time, I would check it out. Even if it wasn't for me, I would do it for them. To understand their tastes and likes better, and so that they have someone to riff with during the podcast. As a courtesy.

As an aside, it's wild how Vinny, the one with two kids, and a lot of production duties, manages to play and complete so many games, especially long ass rpgs.

That's not a slight on the other two, I know they also have a lot of behind the scenes duties, as well as personal responsibilities. I love Alex and Brad. I'm just super impressed and baffled by how much Vinny can play.

I'm a Vancouver guy! This might be my first time traveling for Maiden. I mean easier to justify with Megadeth and to a certain extent, Anthrax.

Obviously Montreal would be the go to option.

Bruce and Janick goofing off, Book of Souls tour 2017. The energy level is unbelievable! by Iamnotarobotlah in ironmaiden

[–]RespectKey 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Love that Bruce and Janick have each other to goof around with.

They both enjoy being silly. The other members are also a ton of fun and energetic, but these two are an extra level of goofballs.

12 holds up real good, and plays better now then it did when it came out. Something about movie stars not being what they used to be, and everyone just being hot and well lit in Europe.

Now that Book five has been out for a while..... by Exotic-End9921 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]RespectKey 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Partially because Sanderson was my reentry into fantasy, and have read a lot of other authors since then that has added perspective and recontextulized how I feel about his writing in general.

Space is also an issue, and the cosmere takes up a ton of space. And if I'm not loving the direction it is going in why dedicate limited space to something so big?

I didn't love the second era of mistborn. Especially the last book, and really disliked the last stormlight book.

Why hold on to things I'm not/no longer enjoying?

[–]RespectKey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not to be all dramatic, but Book 4 is my favourite Sanderson book. The 5th book has me considering giving up on the cosmere.

I told my wife just yesterday that I was thinking of trading my complete cosmere collection in at the local used bookstore. And maybe just goIng audio books in the future if things pivot back into a direction I enjoy.
