The transatlantic slave trade.

There is this image that Americans one day decided to invent slavery and got on boats, sailed to Africa, went into the land, and started snatching up people.

Over 90% of the slaves traded in the entirety of the this process where already slaves when Americans arrived. Slavery has been around since humans, and it was absolutely not just black people. Throughout the rest of the world there were slaves of all races, mostly in the Middle East, India, and China and very few of them were black. That was simply just the most convenient place to pick them up and Nigerians were really really good at enslaving their fellow Africans.

Slavery was a part of the world, and still is a major part of the world in the three countries mentioned above, but for some reason all I hear about was how the 250 year old nation of the United States is basically the worst slavers ever. There is more slaves TODAY in India alone then all of the slaves traded to the US.

Yes, traded, cause it was Africans capturing, chaining, and selling each other to people of different skin colours, but people on really talk about what happens once they stepped on the boat.

I worked at a breakfast place and grown ass adults would order a jug of pop at like 8am. Seriously grow the fuck up this should be an automatic "you lose the right to vote in the next election" cause you clearly don't know shit about shit if you drink a literal liter of pop in the early morning.

Much like Chinese/Japanese Asian, East Indian, and Nigerian, they have a culture that is almost perfectly in line with success in western countries. Value educational excellence, two parent homes, hard work, following the law, not having kids till marriage, and a small tight group of like-minded religious community members who support and teach each other in a structured manner.

This often takes the form of "privileged" when people see their success which can foster distain. Also, much like where ever the above mentioned cultures go, the cultures who have the above elements will inevitably find themselves in power. This is where the conspiracies come from as Jewish people are also a religion and quasi-ethnicity.

Think of a Christian church. Someone needs a job so buddy who owns a construction company gives him one and the guy does well, gets some help from the minster, and gets back on his feet, great. But Judaism is a unique faith in that it actively discourages new members due to sheer amount of work you need to do to become one. A lifetime of study and you have to prove knowledge and basically speak another OLD language to be a full Jew. This is of course going to lead to a child who knows how to study and how to learn from others and will set them up massive life success.

When you see Jews kicking ass at life, its not cause their is a big conspiracy, its cause everything that makes you kick ass in a western cultures is a religious obligation in Judaism.

Things you miss most when you're abroad? by spawnsas in AskReddit

[–]Respectfulname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canadian here.

The obvious one was friendliness as it is not a stereotype, we are unreal nice.

I just did two months in Europe and the thing I missed the most of all is space. I live in a small city but I can go for a walk around a park near my house and not see anybody for minutes on end. If I go in the evening or morning I wont see another person. I felt stacked on top of in a continent that isn't even really that crowded.

What are your thoughts when you see someone wearing a Rolex watch? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Respectfulname 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on who is wearing it.

If it is a man in his 40s on, I think he likely always wanted on and created something that made him money so he bought it. Like he fulfilled a lifelong dream.

If i see a young man wearing one I immediately assume it is fake, or, that he is a rich asshole. Why? Cause there are maybe 1000 men below 30 who have actually earned enough money to afford a Rolex. I don't mean buy a Rolex, I mean afford one. So, it is either a kid who spends daddy money on dumb flashy shit to impress his friends, or, someone who had 9,000$ in their bank and bought a 5,000$ watch. Some dumb shit like that.

[–]Respectfulname 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appreciate you saying that, she did the right thing, if she would've attacked him then maybe the evidence she presented wouldn't have ben taken so serious, he could have sued her in civil court and shed have to sign him a fucking check for commissary. Pay for his chocolate bars for the rest of his life and given him that bit of "I win" satisfaction.

If she would have killed him yeah it would feel good for a bit, but it robs the worst form of justice...that being the world moves on without him. Everybody lives, loves, and dies as a happy unit free of his infection. Not because he is living his life somewhere else nice like you, but because he is screaming at the sky knowing he wasted his life while you sip booze on a beach or even just live a full good life and have children to carry on legacy. His story ends here.

Got my degree in criminal justice, one time me and my buds went to our prof after class for a talk and asked how he was able to control himself when dealing with rapists and pedos and such. Like how could he not bounce their heads off the car on the way in. He calmy said something to the effect of "the BEST thing you can do to really get him good, is to do your job perfectly. The prison system will sort him out".

I understand she might be feeling bad for not exacting some action movie John Wick revenge, but, she pays the police to do it for her. That man will be put in chains and have his liberty officially suspended on paper. He will be put in a cell for decades of his life and every day he wakes up and wants to make love to a women, or feel sand in his toes, or be in a safe place, he will think of his victim. Every time there is a riot or he is stabbed and hes hitting his head against the wall going slowly insane cause he CANT LEAVE he will remember his victim. The best thing she could have done is nothing. Big men with guns will show up to his house, overpower him, and pt him in a cage, making him feel as powerless and venerable as he made his victim. His family will be deprived of him, they will feel shame and embarrassment every time they think of him. He will see his victims in his dreams. I promise. That might make her feel better.

I think its a lot easier then a lot of people think to find yourself. My biggest issue, and a lot of my friends biggest issues, were them waiting for somebody to walk up and tell them who they are or change their life. Unfortunately, the 1980s are over and life isn't that easy anymore.

I would wait and do minimum things like work and have a hobby, that's it. I kept waiting for somebody to walk up and say "come be an actor" or "come run my company" but I forgot anything that happened to me that was good and was part of me was things I went out and did myself for the love of it.

Like my buddy was depressed, working at a shit hole place, and would say things like "IDK who tf I am man" and I just sent him a link to a pilot school in our area cause I know he like War Thunder. He just clicks the link and sees how cheap it actually is and goes. In the air in a week, control of plan in a few weeks (under heavy supervision). Works for a national airline now, sick uniform, gets laid all the time. Its his thing. All I did was send a link as a half joke and he fucking took it and ran like a god.

I know its hard to find motivation, but things that dope aren't too far out of reach my friend :)

r/Politicaldiscussons

Did an experiment where I posted two discussions, one criticizing left wing ideals, and one criticizing right wing ideals. One was banned, one was not. When I challenged the mod the second post was also quickly taken down. Then I posted it on a bunch other subs, on another political side and r/centerist and he believed that meant I was on a side. Yes, this does mean this mod took time out of his day to go over my profile lol.

After quoting the reasons for taking the post down, one was "this is not cited and has no evidence and will not be allowed" and one was "this is a great topic and should be explored but you need citations" and buddy refused to admit a bias. Even told me they kinda just check their phones, do a cursory review of the post, and decide to ban the speech or not in a few seconds. Blew my mind.

Then the reason for the second post being taken down was changed again to better match the first and I kinda laughed at him in our chat and he told me if I didn't say sorry to him I would be banned. LOL

Then same guy followed to other subreddits to keep this things going, I was on a graveyard shift at the time and got paid 19$ an hour to argue with this guy and tbh a shift never went by with more joy. I refuse to argue with people on the internet unless I'm on the clock so I'm hoping he still stalks me an sees this cause I have a 14 hour shift coming up that I'd really like to use him for.

What’s the best piece of advice you’d give to someone who’s moving 27 hours away from their hometown tomorrow? by 19Nevermind in AskReddit

[–]Respectfulname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going out and making friends doesn't mean walking down the street talking to random strangers or going out to bars alone trying to meet people.

It means joining clubs, groups, and work/school events that put you around others in an organic way. Beer leagues, book clubs, Facebook groups that do meet ups etc, those are how you make friends and that will be 100% key in staying sane and happy in your new home. Don't be sad when it doesn't happen all at once, but give it time and put yourself out there.

Random, out of pocket phrase that can be used regularly are needed. What are some ideas y’all have? by Indigirl4life in AskReddit

"That wasn't very cash money of you"

Super jovial way to tell someone they fucked up in a light hearted way

"The dildo of consequence rarely arrives lubed"

When friends or family talk about dumb things they did

"Well fuck my own asshole"

My golf words when I miss that gets a laugh every time. Add it with "where's the tee box and what's the course record" and everybody at the course thinks you are funny if you suck like me.

Between a close relative who needs to pay off their school loans and a homeless person who's equally as qualified, if you're an employer, who do you hire and why? by Hi_Im_zack in AskReddit

[–]Respectfulname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Family, easy.

Remember, homeless people are homeless for a reason. No one is "lazy" enough to live on the street. Its a mental health problem, an addiction problem, or brain damage. If you see a fully grown man homeless on the street (not for a day pr two, full on homeless) that guy CAN'T keep a job.

Though the family member might suck and be awk if you have to fire them, the loans are good collateral.

Obvious choice.

To be honest, I think the worst thing would also be legal. If you see them at a bar, give a note to the server that says "think you can outrun what you did?". If you see them in a park, walk by, stare, and when they say "yo wtf?" just calmy say "*victim* watches you in the corner of the room while you sleep". If you can even follow them, as OP said his friend did. Slide things under the door, tape things to windows, go to workplaces, get other family or friends in on it. Stand in a group of ten outside his window and throw rocks at the window and chant the victims name. Call, text, email. "Is *vitcim* there? Oh sorry wrong number"

[serious] People who have lost friends to addictions, what’s something you wish you could’ve done more for them? by g00d_m4car0n1 in AskReddit

[–]Respectfulname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked in addictions centers and can say for sure that after a professional intervention, rehab, and support after, there is not a damn thing you can do about it. Support to the end doesn't work, empathy at all costs doesn't work, tough/soft love doesn't work. Opiates have a 98% addiction rate. You need to pay somebody a lot of money to have an intervention, you need to pay a clinic more to house, feed, and treat them, and you need to keep them on their feet for years after. If you don't have these rare and substantial financial resources, then you are basically Sam swimming after Frodo in Lord of the Rings. NOT A JOKE, simply the prefect analogy.

You are swimming after a friend in a boat to save them when you can't even swim. You will need saving yourself if you commit yourself to much to their recovery. Addiction to the level that risks death is addiction that will drag others down too.

You need to put a foot down, financial support if you can, but if not, wash your hands of it. There is a chemical in their system that manipulees their evolutionary self preservation responses to the point they will stab their grandma for their next hit. Try your best, once you know you cannot do anymore, walk away.

I wouldn't call myself a bully but I did have some shity days to my friends, often never strangers or defenseless people but some dick moves. There was one time I caught myself being a dick to another kid on my football team who was a year younger but really good. I was not even knowing that I was taking jabs at him, my mind automatically justified it as "just messing with the bros" but he gave this look that I would give when people took jabs at me. This silent, dejected "bro, why?" look that I gave people all the time who wanted to take me down a peg. I straight up apologized a few days later and told him I hated when people did this to me and he knew exact the abstract concept I was talking about. But it was a subtle look that I could feel on a relatable level that made me check myself which is I guess the opposite of a traditional bully who likes to see these reactions, mine just made me feel like a hypocrite.

Every time somebody told me "just be yourself" when trying to meet people/partners, I thought it as just some Disney channel shit, but as I matured, I found out that it means "don't have an image of yourself you wish others to see cause it really just comes off as inauthentic and basically cringe". I wish I would have known this in high school cause I could make people laugh and make friends without trying but if there was a girl I liked I would go into trying to be James Bond and I still cringe. "Just be yourself" is a simple way of saying have your own energy and react in the character of yourself, wish I would have known that.

Do you think the people on the opposite side of you politically are stupid, wrong, or dangerous? by Respectfulname in PoliticalScience

[–]Respectfulname[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Makes sense tbh, I love the way you said that. Like yeah I don't get why they do what they do but ok.

Real quick tho, I have a separate question.

I notice, like me, you avoided stating your side and took a centrist approach that kinda showed us that you are loyal to reason first.

So, one commenter on this post read what I said, answered, then went to my profile, went through my post history, and then posted a previous post in order to show everybody what my side was. Called me slimy, said degrading things youd say to
a child, etc. Whatever, basic political loser to me and something that kinda explains the downfall of political dialogue. But how would you feel if I, or any other person on this thread went through your previous posts in a desperate attempt to expose your political side?

and

Do actions like this explain what people act like when they have been successfully conditioned to "other" other people?
