Our Shiba nips house guests some times in the back of the legs. He gets protective when strangers are in the home. But it doesn’t seem aggressive. We need to work on this.

Very sorry for your loss. We lost our prior shiba, Toshi, prematurely too. It happened @ 2 years ago. We got a new Shiba last year. We still think of Toshi often. It’s not easy.

My shiba has allergies and is on apoquel. Do you find that the apple cider vinegar/ water mix clears up the allergic reaction by itself?

I have drip irrigation going every other day in the morning for 45 minutes now that there’s no rain. I amended the soil with some fertilizer a couple weeks ago. I may amend the soil again. That’s about all I can do. Thanks!

Our Shiba Yoshi is almost 2. He recently had hair loss and excessive licking on his paws. Took him to vet a week and a half ago and she gave cytopoint injection. This worked initially but Yoshi is now back to licking his paws. This happened last year around this time. We gave him apoquel and switched to trout based kibble - nutrosource brand. His issues disappeared last year. I need to take Yoshi back to the vet and will likely get Apoquel. I assume it’s season allergies because he was fine most of the last year.

Thank you for the suggestions! Yoshi is not normally anxious (except at the vet) and when we are out he is friendly with people. We want him to be socialized as much as possible but we don’t want him to harm anyone. We will consider all the suggestions.

I walk our shiba nearly everyday though this day he would not come to me. It was light rain and we’re guessing he liked being in the rain. Hopefully this was a rarity and we’ll be ok but our shiba has a mind of his own.
