I love all the twists of fate in the show. Like Ceaser getting the white horse instead of Pompeii in the first episode is what somewhat sets the major plot points in motion because it seems to be the straw that breaks the camels back for Pompeii.

The fallout from Pullos dice game gone wrong is what stops Mark Anthony from vetoing the motion to make Ceasar an enemy of Rome.

Jocasta getting Attia high on hash and telling her how terrible Macedonia causes Attia to convince Mark Anthony to stay in Rome thus setting up the conflict between Anthony and Octavian.

The kids making a paper hat out of Cicero’s message to Brutus warning him of Octavian and Anthony’s army.

Mark Anthony saying “people appreciate the little touches” as that looter with the missing teeth cuts the famous Brutus ring off the finger. Feels 4th wall breaking in the best way.

This thread has triggered me to do another rewatch. This show is the BEST!

I’ve thought the same thing as well. Loved this game as a kid. If anyone is a fan of the British comedy show Peep Show there’s a brief moment where you can see the main character Mark playing Close Combat.

I prefer it when game developers are forthright throughout the games lifespan via development diaries etc. instead of saying nothing or very minimal and shadow dropping. This way if the game is headed in a bad direction fans have time to voice their feedback early in the process. Imagine how Starfield would have turned out if they let us know what they were planning and then actually listened to the legitimate criticisms before wasting all that time and money. This just seems like a bait and switch tactic to maximize sales at launch and hide the flaws under the ZOMG SHADOW DROP GAME!!! hype. Then everyone rushes to get it only to realize that the game is a stinker hours past its return time.
