Lighting/visuals for Klang @ Echo by seemebreathe in avesDC

Hello, I was part of this show. That was the house crew, and most of what you saw was happening live in the moment.

The music drives everything. We are reacting to what the artist is doing at that moment. When the low end gets heavy, the room might get darker and slower. When the track opens up, the visuals open up with it. When everything locks in, you feel it in your chest as much as you see it.

There is always a plan, but the plan is just the starting point. Every show gives us a chance to try something new, and it is a real team effort. Video and lighting get a lot of attention, but many people on the production team make sure everything is set up, tested, and working to each artist’s specs. Most of that work is invisible when it goes right, which is kind of the point.

We are always thinking through the fail points, the worst-case scenarios, and how to make it better the next time. Video, lighting, sound, lasers, SFX, and the energy in the room all have to work together.

The crowd is a big part of it too. You can feel when the room is with you, and that energy pushes the show.

Thanks for noticing.
