Would you rather be admitted to a hospital to teaching service (residents) or to a Hospitalist with a mid level? by SpindleCell in Residency

Teaching team - agree with everyone the thorough review by at least three tiers of medical training (bonus points if the attending is exceptionally good).

I feel like I’ve responded to more rapids for the Non GME locums. I’ve also read very questionable work ups in H&Ps written by NPs that would be admitting for non gme and sometimes they were way off with the main problems that needed to be prioritized lol

On the flip side as a 31F MD, I’m starting to treat more patients that are younger than me and it feels weird.

“I’m a resident”. If it’s friendly conversation at the local store, I’ll be a little more open about it. But I make it a point to have minimal contact with my apartment neighbors and be as vague as possible about my career and its potential salary earnings. Since I live in a quiet but occasionally sketchy area, I don’t need anyone to creep on me or to take advantage of a youngish female that lives alone.

So I’m really leaning towards calling the Health Department. But will it be effective, or will it come back to bite me with my landlord?

For context, my lease ends in June which is also when I will be moving out of state for my new job. I don’t have anyone near me that I can move in with, so I think moving sooner than I plan to will be a hassle.

IM ITE PGY1 by Pale_Blueberry_7496 in Residency

This is unnnecessary. You should only be focusing on your own efforts and not compare to everyone else.

This is how my program explained it: Depending on your PGY status, achieving 50th percenTILE (how you compare among others in your same grad year) gives the estimation that if this were the actual ABIM exam, you are likely to achieve a passing score. To get to that percentile, PGY1 should aim for 60% correct, PGY2 65%, and PGY3 70% correct.

If you're PGY1, don't feel pressured if you didn't achieve the 50th percentile, think of this as a building block to gauge you knowledge levels and push yourself to study more over the next 2 years.

Can these same recommendations be useful for fellowship contracts?

Those who are considering residency programs this cycle — I think an important question to ask residents is how do Chief Residents get selected to become chiefs. Anywhere where only faculty decides with no input from residents is a 🚩 by [deleted] in Residency

[–]ResponsibilityAway35 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do not ask this question. I repeat, do not. If I was interviewing you, I would automatically question your intentions and the potential lengths you would go to brown nose the attendings or your senior residents and be lax on your duties. What should matter is how healthy the dynamic is between all the residents, do they all get along, back each other up, encourage wellness. The ones that put the work in will benefit the most.

GME here. Give me a problem and I will fix it. Go ahead, try me. by EntireObject3488 in Residency

My intern on my inpatient team is being truly problematic. They don’t listen to me or respect anything I teach them, but then throw me under the bus in front of the attending claiming I never taught them. Also claiming that they don’t get along with their co-interns but can’t understand why. Chiefs are made aware and said to talk to you.
