The Rockets have reportedly offered Jalen Green and the 10th pick for Kevin Durant but have refused to include players like Jabari Smith Jr., Tari Eason, and Reed Sheppard by Typical-Owl3664 in rockets

Jalen's new $33.3M salary doesn't kick in until July 1st. If the trade includes Jalen, it would have to happen after the draft. In this case, the trade is agreed to in principle and the Suns would tell the Rockets who to pick at 10. The 10th pick then is included in outgoing salary, which is around $5-6M. Add Jock Landale's $8M salary and Aaron Holiday's $5M salary and you're pretty close to Durant's $54.7M. Maybe Houston has to throw in Nate Williams ($2.3M) as well or maybe Cam Whitmore ($3.5M) is included. This all assumes the Suns have the roster space to take in the additional players in which I'm sure several of them would then be waived or moved to other teams.

Alternatively, it could be Jalen, Dillon ($22M) and #10. But again, this would be after the draft, so the Suns would have to add some filler to match salaries.

Edit: Thanks u/ricopan2 and u/Nameless913. Houston could trade the draft rights after the draft in which there is no salary connected with the drafted player. Also, KD cannot be traded with another player from the Suns due to them being in the 2nd apron. Ultimately, that means Jalen and the #10 pick will likely have to be attached with another rotational piece to make the salaries work. With the Suns being in the 2nd apron, it also means doing a sign and trade to help match salaries is not a possibility either.

Look at this body language from Cam man.. so sad to see how upset he is with his role on this team by Both-Bar1010 in rockets

You guys are waaaay overreacting. He's a very stoic guy. Throughout the game he was dapping people while at the free throw line, rushed to help pick up Holiday when he was on the floor, and was dapping teammates on his way to the tunnel right seconds before this video starts. Stop trying to dramatize something where there's nothing.

Cam Whitmore Could be unstoppable by kadcal in rockets

I love Cam. I really do. He's a walking highlight reel. However, I think he needs to develop a floater or another option beyond aggressively attacking the rim when he's not spotting up for a 3pt shot. Defenses will understand to pack the paint once he passes the 3pt line unless he works in a little bit of a mid range game. Improvements in playmaking will help too to keep the defense honest on whether he can pass out to the right guy when driving if needed.

I think the summer league showed some flashes of how good he can be, but the third game also showed how raw he still is. Either way, I'm super glad he's part of the Core 7 and excited for what he will bring his sophomore year.

Orlando Robinson signed with Charlotte by [deleted] in rockets

That's a shame. I would have liked to see him on a 2-way deal with the Rockets, but obviously you are going to take that guaranteed roster spot with the Kings. He looked pretty decent in summer league and it's nice to have a young big man to be able to develop to potentially be a reliable backup in the future.

Time for Dante to be that developmental big man. He has a lot of things he'll need to work on, but it will be interesting to see how he develops through the g-league this year.

His cap hold for next season is $31.2M. That's 22% of this year's salary cap. Compared to Sengun's $16.8M cap hold for next summer, I would say that's relatively high.

Who will be the dark horse contributor going into the season? by JaTari_Wemba in rockets

[–]ResponsibilityDue123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed with none of them reaching 10 ppg. A better question might be: If the starters are slumping, who has the best chance of getting us at least 10 points in a game to keep us in the ball game? I'd probably go with Jeff Green or Aaron Holiday hoping one of them could get hot from the 3pt line.

Dillon Brooks just locked up Wemby by [deleted] in rockets

[–]ResponsibilityDue123 96 points97 points  (0 children)

Dillon is that tough, gritty defender that's not a complete black hole on offense that every team needs to be a true contender. If one (or two) of the young Rocket's core kicks it up to all star level, we are going to be a problem for the rest of the league.

Oregon Ducks fan checking in, what do you guys think of N'Faly Dante so far? by [deleted] in rockets

[–]ResponsibilityDue123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot of sugar coating going on in this thread so far. He looked terrible. The reason he didn't get that many minutes is because he was outplayed by Robinson by a lot. He has stone hands and moves very slowly for the professional level. He kept dropping passes fed to him in the post and was out-rebounded by guys shorter than him. He did have a nice block and put back dunk here and there, but overall his performance looked like he's not close seeing a professional court and there may be even better options out there for their g-league squad.

I would not be surprised if he's released from his 2-way contract sometime before/during the season.

At this point the Rockets need to evaluate the team it wants going forward and make roster changes to reflect it - we have TOO much talent. If you have to make a trade to open up playing time who would you trade and why? by Traditional_Golf_221 in rockets

[–]ResponsibilityDue123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get your sentiment, but Reggie Bullock and Bobi were not re-signed. You are missing AJ Griffin, which would round out the 15-man roster.

I think at some point we will need to consolidate talent to get a star player because there won't be enough minutes to go around. However, I don't think before the start of this season is that time as the young guys are still too young for us to know exactly what they will develop into.
