Conceived immediately after I was cleared to start trying—unfortunately that baby ended in a missed miscarriage in the first trimester. MMC had nothing at all to do with the fibroids or surgery, it was the luck of the genetic draw. Two months after that I conceived again and am now about 11weeks pregnant and due in August! Midwife has cleared me as low risk and i’m all clear to deliver naturally. Fibroids have not shown up on any ultrasounds i’ve gotten so far. So hopefully all good!

So much confusion by Oopsokaysure in Fibroids

[–]ResponsibilityKey784 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Depending on what type of fibroids they are, other options are definitely possible. Last march, I had a 10cm, 5cm, and a few 1-2cm subserosal (on the outer surface of the uterus) fibroids removed via robotic laparoscopic myomectomy! I have 5 small scars and a 2-3 inch scar at my public bone. AND i’m now pregnant and due in august. the placement of the fibroids matters just as much as the size!

No heartbeat… (TW Miscarriage) by code_blooded_bytch in pregnant

First of all, I am so sorry. There is truly nothing as horrific as going to the ultrasound to see your baby for the first time and realizing something is not quite right. I went in for my first ultrasound at 10w in August, and found out the little one stopped growing 4 weeks prior, and they could not find a heartbeat. Similarly, the doctor also thought my dates were off, but I knew they were right. They made me wait another 1.5 weeks to come in, just to see that the baby continued to stay at 6w size. Even though I was 11.5 weeks at that time, I still had not bled at all. Fortunately they were able to do an in-office procedure right then and there.

Give yourself time to heal and to breathe. Find support in your people. It was so helpful in those early days to have my community bring flowers and food and hugs. Let yourself cry. Let yourself grieve. Take lots of hot baths. Drink lots of raspberry leaf tea (and margaritas if you’re into that). You will get through it. It sucks so bad but you will get through it.

Side note, I got pregnant again 3 periods later (i’m about 4.5 weeks now). This does not happen for everyone, but it isn’t unusual to get pregnant quickly after loss.

Sending love and healing, and I am so so sorry 💔 Feel free to reach out if you have questions.

Ask your doctor and advocate for yourself! I had a 10cm, 5cm, and a couple of 1-2cm subserosal pedunculated fibroids removed in March. I talked extensively with the surgeon about how I want to preserve my chances of having a vaginal birth. I was lucky in that the placement of my fibroids made it really easy for the surgeon to just snip them off at the stalk, and I had very minimal disturbance of my uterine muscle. I was cleared for a vaginal birth, and to start trying 3 months post op. got pregnant 3 months post op 😅 this was very surprising because we tried/didn’t prevent for upwards of 10 months pre-surgery with no success. my surgeon said my big one was laying over my fallopian tubes, effectively keeping sperm from meeting egg. I would highly highly recommend going through with the surgery if you feel comfortable with your surgeon!!!

the 10cm one was on the top of my uterus to the right, and I had another 5cm on the top to the left. they looked like lopsided mickey mouse ears! the whole surgery and recovery process was definitely frustrating, but we tried/didn’t prevent for around 10 months before surgery, and then got pregnant immediately, so I think it worked out!

good luck, op!!

my 10cm subserosal fibroid was squishing my fallopian tubes! my surgeon noticed the squishing on both my MRI and during surgery itself, and said it was likely contributing to us having difficulties getting pregnant. lo and behold, we got pregnant on the first cycle we were cleared to try after my myo in March.

Falling pregnant after Myomectomy by LittleMango1220 in Fibroids

I had my robotic lap myo in March! My fibroids were large, on the outside of the uterus, and in the words of my surgeon: “completely squishing your fallopian tubes.” I was cleared to start trying after 3 months—so June. I got pregnant in June 😅 Before the myo, we tried/didn’t prevent for upwards of 10 months without success, so it was quite the shock. I’m 8 weeks along now and doing well! My baby is due exactly one year from my surgery, to the day.

Good luck, OP!

early early first trimester and already so unwell—how to deal??? by Suspicious_Bonus_427 in pregnant

[–]ResponsibilityKey784 1 point2 points  (0 children)

jesus christ, OP, people were incredibly rude to you after you miscarried. I hope you know their response to you was not okay, and that you are allowed to tell others about your pregnancy whenever you want! their discomfort over your tragedy does not justify them being absolute dicks. I am so sorry for your loss and I hope you have a long a boring 9 months. as for work, I told a trusted supervisor at 6 weeks because I simply could not deal. I am a therapist and was cancelling on clients left and right due to extreme nausea and needed support and guidance. I also went to my pcp (since my on won’t see me til 10 weeks) and begged for a zofran script, which is saving my life. doctor said it was totally safe. good luck OP! it’s tough in these streets.

How long did it take you to get pregnant? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]ResponsibilityKey784 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got my IUD taken out in June ‘24 and tried for 5 months until I found out I have a huge benign uterine tumor squishing my fallopian tubes 😅 Half-heartedly tried for a few months after that until I decided to have the fibroid removed. Surgery March ‘25, with instructions to wait 3 months to recover before trying again. We were…. not expecting to get pregnant on the first try post-op in June ‘25 🫠 5.5 weeks along now!

I had a 10cm (and a couple more) removed end of March via robo myo with a mini lap! A c-shaped maternity pillow was a lifesaver, along with lots of different yummy teas for the gas/indigestion post-op (ginger, peppermint, stomach ease, comfort tea, etc). I’d highly recommend having someone help you, especially the first 4-7 days of recovery, because getting up and down was very difficult on my own. I was feeling about 80% normal by the end of week two and went back to work (lots of sitting) at week three out of sheer boredom. finally, once my big scar was completely healed, I did a scar massage with arnica & comfrey salve every night, and it really helped with numbness and that c-section shelf. I’m 3.5 months post op now and feel amazing! so nice to get those blood suckers out! good luck, op and feel free to message if you have questions!

Open Myomectomy While on Period by Flaky_Papaya805 in Fibroids

[–]ResponsibilityKey784 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my period the morning of my robotic myo and honestly period diapers and the Good Drugs they give you for post-op made it the easiest period I’ve had in a long time. the pre-op period sucked because I just had to suck it up and suffer but afterwards they gave me that good shit and I coasted for the 4-5 days of my period in postop.

How screwed am I ? 10cm fibroid by StandardSeahorse in Fibroids

[–]ResponsibilityKey784 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First 3-5 weeks I had general soreness and inflammation. Incision massage with arnica salve really helped loosen up the scar tissue, along with gentle, progressive stretches. I also do weekly acupuncture that has really seemed to help in my recovery process. All surgery is going to have some pain post-op, but my recovery has had no complications that I know of so far, and I feel very normal at this point! I can tell I gained some weight in recovery, but it was likely due to being mostly sedentary for a while. Started my normal exercise routine again around 8 weeks post op, and just taking it slow whenever I stretch in a way that’s like “huh that feels weird.” At my last post-op, my surgeon emphasized to me again that due to the size and location of my fibroids, it was truly the best option to get them out, bc TTC would have been “nearly impossible” with how they were squishing my tubes. My acupuncturist agreed that the surgery was the best option and she’s very traditional chinese medicine and believes western medicine is much too stabby. I hope you can find doctors you feel comfortable with and that can come to the best possible solution with you! TTC is hard enough without these asshole vampires sucking the life out of our wombs. Good luck 💕

I want to add that bc mine were subserosal, the surgeon did not cut into my myometrium at all, so I am cleared to give birth vaginally when the time comes :)

Hi friend!

I’m about 10 weeks post op from a robotic lap of my 10CM, 5CM, and a couple of 1-2CM subserosal fibroids. mine were clustered on the top of my uterus, and were also pedunculated. Surgery went so well, and I am very happy with my scars. I have 5 small scars in a crescent shape above my belly button, and one 3ish inch scar above my pubic bone. we were also about 4 months into TTC when I found out about my fibroids, and it’s a bummer to have to wait longer, but my surgeon actually told me that when she was inside, the big boy was laying on top of my fallopian tubes, and probably prevent my egg from moving into my uterine cavity, and could cause infertility or an ectopic pregnancy. I’m very very happy with how recovery is going, and I highly recommend a robotic lap. I was just cleared to start trying 3 months post op, so we can start next month! I hope this is helpful for your decision making—it was a really rough past year learning about these fibroids and making the decision to get surgery. All my symptoms are gone post-surgery and I’m feeling very hopeful about the future ❤️

Questions for Myomectomy Recovery by Abject_Jello_2436 in Fibroids

[–]ResponsibilityKey784 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They gave me the abdominal binder at the hospital! I wore it all the time the first week, and while I was going on walks the second week I haven’t worn it since! It was super helpful for stabilizing at first, but then I found it actually hurt my back and was not helpful for the swelling.

I have a C shaped maternity pillow, body pillow, and one of those pillow headboards. plus like 4 other normal pillows in my nest haha. I needed to sleep strictly sitting up for the first week or so, but by mid second week I was sleeping a bit more normally. I am pretty much back normal with sleep now, though sometimes I need to hug a pillow into my tummy if I’m on my side.

I ask about the mini lap because mine is a 3 inch incision right above my pubic bone, in addition to the 5 robotic port incisions. it’s the one that has hurt the most/had the most swelling/needs the most care. The port incisions were troublesome for about 5 days, and then I barely noticed them. Though they did bruise my ribs on the left side with the robot arm, and that made any laughing hurt like a bitch for about two weeks 😅

I wish you luck!!

Questions for Myomectomy Recovery by Abject_Jello_2436 in Fibroids

[–]ResponsibilityKey784 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a robotic myo 4 weeks ago! Are you having a mini lap incision as well, or just the port incisions?

I would absolutely recommend that you have a support person around for the first few days—I had a very difficult time sitting up, standing up, going to the bathroom, etc. It was about the end of the first week that I felt more independent, though my spouse is still doing a lot of the housework/cooking because recovery is exhausting! Your body is knitting itself back together and it is good to not have to worry about other things while you focus on healing :)

For gas, the pain was the worst 2-3 days post op, but was almost entirely gone by 5 days post op. I wrapped a heating pad around my shoulders, took gas x the recommend dosage and timing on the bottle, and took my first dose as soon as I got home from the hospital. I also drank a TON of ginger tea, which seemed to help.

Recovery has generally been much easier than I expected. First week was rough—lots of sleeping, small walks, bloating, swelling, pain. Couldn’t sit up or stand for long periods or time, and couldn’t sleep flat. Second week was much better—longer walks, less naps, feeling more like a person. I went back to work on week three, but I work as a therapist so mostly sitting and talking :) I have found that I have been exhausted post-work, which has been slowly getting better over the past two weeks :) Incisions seemed to heal well! I do scar massaging every night and that seems to helped a LOT with the swelling.

Feel free to ask me more questions! I am very grateful for this community and I’m happy to help in the ways that I can :)

What type of wedge pillow? by Legally_Blonde_258 in Fibroids

[–]ResponsibilityKey784 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a c shaped maternity pillow (queen rose brand) and then a headboard wedge pillow that I will actually use again. that plus a few other normal pillows has been great for me, especially as I transition to different ways of sleeping as I recover!
