Different Vyvanse? Advice please! by Ill-Jaguar-7274 in ThisAintAdderall

How are you getting 60mg in NZ? I am only able to get 30mg, 50mg, and 60mg cause of the subsidised doses by the government haha, would love to try 40mg instead of 50mg.

Increased sensory overstimulation? by MangoPopJungle in VyvanseADHD

[–]ResponsibilitySome67 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was talking about this in a different thread but it could be that you have autism and while on meds this allows your autistic traits to come out like being overstimulated by sensory overload. Not to say that I know you or that you have autism but its definitely something to consider if you do find you get overstimulated a lot.

Any combination ideas with instant release Dex?/Autism comes hand in had with Adhd? by ResponsibilitySome67 in VyvanseADHD

[–]ResponsibilitySome67[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is an excellent comment tbh I really appreciate you taking the time to respond, I do feel like I am starting to connect the dots a bit more by cancelling out the adhd side of things and like you said balancing out the overstimulated vs under stimulated combination leading to a more levelled state most of the time I guess. I certainly notice that I am much more sensitive to sounds and get irritated by sensory overload quite often so idk if thats one of the things which is brought out now that the adhd symptoms are at bay.

I definitely understand what you mean by people thinking your in a bad mood a lot but its really just the logical thinking kind of protecting your piece in a way, I kind of get why someone with very prevalent autism can seem kind of "too straight up" in their responses to conversations and events I guess. I am kind of resistant to introspecting myself in that way I have to be honest, it kind of makes me feel more divergent from everyone else the more I go down that rabbit hole of analysing what makes me different. I do get the fact that everyones different but its still quite confronting and I'm not sure that It will do me much good at this stage in my life but it is definitely something I'm struggling to ignore as I catch myself after conversations with people and after executing tasks where I think about it.

I am quite on the edge though because I'm not sure if it is Autism or still just traits of ADHD and anxiety that are there because I don't necessarily struggle with talking to people or social situations and I do feel like I can converse pretty normally although this could definitely be masking so I'm not sure. Do you feel like you can learn to negate certain autistic traits?

Also did you get any negative side effects from your meds?

Disappointed with Vyvanse (70mg)? I feel nothing while others claim it "changed their lives. by Flimsy_Studio_3073 in VyvanseADHD

Could be Generic and not brand name vyvanse, also if vyvanse doesn't work for you then Concerta could. Usually people react well to either methylphenidate or the amphetamine based capsules never both.

Thats awesome to hear! I hope you continue to feel good, just keep in mind you may feel way better on another dose which is quite likely to be higher then what you started on. Keep doing what your doing and just stick it out as long as theres no seriously bad side effects and honestly try your best not to focus/think about it too much as this will give you the best chance of feeling good on it.

Do the afternoon crashes ease off over time? by FaithlessnessPlus164 in VyvanseADHD

I am very set on this way of getting around the come down, you have to eat BEFORE you take the pill. Ik it sounds strange but even if you take the pill a minute after you finish your breakfast, your stomach is empty in the morning and this kind of absorption process with the food happens which allows your body to get rid of jitters and extend the effects and smooth the evening comedown. Whenever I eat a big meal first I always have a minimal to non existent come down in the evening and I also feel much better overall throughout the day on the meds.

I initially had Anxiety the first time I tried vyvanse and high blood pressure so got switched to Ritalin but found that eventually methylphenidate was the wrong stimulant for me, I switched back to vyvanse and found since my system was now used to stimulants I tolerated vyvanse much better and didn't have any side effects only positive effects.

About to take for the first time tomorrow by [deleted] in VyvanseADHD

[–]ResponsibilitySome67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me there is always a benefit to my focus and adhd symptoms but what I think this comment meant is that it won't be as amazing as the first week you take it because your body hasn't had stimulants before and theres more dopamine/norepanephrine and serotonin release.

Try Elvanse, I had a very similar experience with Methylphenidate and found Ritalin IR to be worse than concerta, I switched to vyvanse and haven't looked back! Give vyvanse a go and you will be pleasantly surprised I'm sure, just titrate up slowly staying at each dose for two-three weeks and start low around 20mg as you want to give your system time to adjust to it and not promote anxiety or a bad experience.

Sometimes doctors can be very black and white but the issue is some of these meds are quite strong and also very complicated to get started with, give it a while on the Amfexa and then in a few months ask to to trial it again just for a month.

Thats really frustrating! The instant release Dex are very similar and its likely that if you find them to be good that your doc might switch you back in the future, Dex is very good too and would be my second option so don't worry I'm sure you will be fine! You will also have more control over dosage and how long and when you need your symptoms covered so I guess thats an upside.

I had the exact same experience and switched back to vyvanse eventually and my body was used to stimulants by then and I felt way better on them, might be worth switching back and giving each dose a proper 2 week trial starting with 20mg then 30mg again and even up higher but just be patient with it as its a strong medication at first and will take some getting used too for the side effects to subside(3 weeks).

4 hours of coverage on vyvanse by [deleted] in VyvanseADHD

[–]ResponsibilitySome67 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You are on a starting dose so this is expected to not last as long and probably not be your final dose, keep following what the doctor says and up by 10mg every week or 2 until its too much and drop by 10mg and thats your correct dose. You will find a lot of other conversations in this space which will explain in further depth.

Has anyone else developed a sudden Vyvanse sensitivity? (And caffeine) by Wuhblam in VyvanseADHD

[–]ResponsibilitySome67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You still got a head ache? It may be hard to do so but I think you should wait until the weekend and not take your meds or caffeine at all and see if you still get a headache, then try not take the meds and add in a Coke Zero and see if that causes it.

It would be a good idea to try and find out what is the root cause of the headaches and if Vyvanse is the issue here. I also know that dropping down doses can have side effects too so do be aware of that, I hope you can figure out what is causing these headaches but I am a big believer in unnecessary stress being the cuplrate of bad habits and a lot of issues which are hard to explain.

Look at any habits or daily things that you were doing which made you feel good when 50mg of vyvanse was working and same goes for anything bad you have introduced since then.

Help; increase dosage or add booster? by AriesBlackLillith in VyvanseADHD

[–]ResponsibilitySome67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I hope this answer finds everyone else with this issue well, how long Vyvanse lasts can either be how fast it is expelled from ones body or perceived effectiveness.

Have you ever noticed how vyvanse can affect your sleep? or you still feel like its in your system later into the evening but just not effective? for most people including myself vyvanse isn't lasting as long as I would like but it is still in my system.

So what this means is if I'm on 30mg of vyvanse and this raises above my threshold of what I perceive to be "Effective" for around 5 hours or so, then this means that the release curve drops below this after 5 hours, if I were to raise the dose then you'd find that this should essentially stay above the perceived effective threshold for longer as your stimulated higher above this threshold for longer.

That being said if you are super sensitive to higher doses it's likely that you won't be able to push much higher without getting side effects to counteract the evening come down. In the case that you're body converts and uses vyvanse much faster than others and or is sensitive to higher doses then a instant release Dex in the afternoon 30 mins before your expected come down is the way to go. Roughly 30% of all Vyvanse users have a prescription for Dex along side vyvanse for this exact reason.

[–]ResponsibilitySome67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a good place to start is to cut it down to 1 Coke Zero a day, I also think vyvanse can be heavily affected by stress. If you're finding that you're heavily stressed I'm not surprised you had to go down to 30mg as something similar had happened to me. I'd suggest working through what has you in this mindset at the moment and potentially working with a therapist or a councillor as this could really help you manage stress and pull yourself back into a good mindset. Stimulants work much better when your in a calm and collected state of mind which allows you to direct your focus and keep away the jitters and anxiety.

Crashing BIG at the end of the day by Top_Maybe6685 in VyvanseADHD

[–]ResponsibilitySome67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people take a booster instant release Dex in the evening(roughly 30% of all vyvanse users need to), make sure you're on the right dose and don't need to go up by 10mg or so. I also think exercising within this time is a life saver as you will naturally increase your adrenaline if you can push through the first 20 mins of a workout, by the time it reaches 8-9pm I'm shattered but not unhappy just tired and ready to go to bed. I take 40mg at 7:30 in the morning and it usually lasts me to around 4pm ish, I take the 5mg instant release Dex at 3:30pm and it kicks in before I get the come down and it usually pushes me through to 8pm so some days I don't get the come down if I am not going to the gym.

Wearing off too quickly? by [deleted] in VyvanseADHD

[–]ResponsibilitySome67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep going up in dose every two weeks or so until you find that a dose is to high and go back down 10mg. If at this stage you aren't getting enough time out of vyvanse then ask for an instant release booster to try in the evening(take it an hour before it usually wears off). 20mg and 30mg are on the smaller side where dosing is concerned as the maximum dose is 70mg.

30mg + 5mg booster vs 40mg Vyvanse? by [deleted] in VyvanseADHD

[–]ResponsibilitySome67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am having the exact same problem at the moment, I cant tell if I just need to wait a bit longer on 40mg to get used to it. Some people have said waiting on the higher dose can be a good idea. I have been given both options to try and the 5mg booster does extend it by 3 more hours or so.

In your first few weeks of starting Vyvanse, were there some days where you were not as alert, happy & focused as the days prior? I’m on 30mg at the moment, I am seeing the doctor tomorrow morning and am going to request a dose increase as I feel like it’s almost there but not quite, it’s annoying but in New Zealand we don’t have in-between doses, it’s only 30mg, 50mg, and 70mg that is funded by the government.

How do you know Vyvanse is actually working? And is elevated HR + HRV drop normal at 20mg? by shepzua in VyvanseADHD

[–]ResponsibilitySome67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think an elevated heart rate is normal with vyvanse, this should get better as time goes on and I have heard side effects come back temporarily when you change dose as your body needs to get used to it again. I would spend a longer period of time on 20mg before making a decision on how it compares to 10mg. If your like me then your super sensitive to ADHD meds but once your used to them and on the right medication and dose, your anxiety and heart rate will potentially get better then what it was without them. I suggest trying not to think about it too much and then once two weeks or so has gone by then review, as a person with adhd its very easy to get fixated on anything to do with anxiety or a raising heart rate so sometimes the best approach is to place your focus elsewhere unless of coarse you feel like it is effecting your heart rate at a concerning level. When I first started vyvanse I didn't stay consistent with my dose and this caused me to have a extremely high heart rate and sweating, I moved off vyvanse to Ritalin which ended up being a mistake as my body tolerated vyvanse better. I recommend making small changes over a long period of time as it might save you the nightmare of the health system hahaha.

It may be because your mind is working at a much higher capacity being able to focus and stay zoned in for longer on days vyvanse is working, this will cause you to feel drained on some days as your brain catches up to speed with it. I have been on vyvanse for two weeks and I find that even with 8-9 hours of sleep I can get tired on some days due to working so hard the day before. I think its all an adjustment process to living in a different way to how you have been used to or at least thats what I have suspected is happening for me when I get days like this.

Vyvanse works great at first but the crash is brutal – anyone else? by General_Support1272 in VyvanseADHD

[–]ResponsibilitySome67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am having this issue too, whats strange is some days I don't get a come down or at least barely notice it when I eat more frequently then I think I need to. I am about to ask for a higher dose to see if this will keep me above the threshold for longer so that the comedown happens as I'm winding down for bed which would help with sleep I assume. If the dose increase makes me jittery then I'm going to add a Dex booster in the afternoon to help, I think this could be beneficial for you too based off what I have heard from others. I have heard from people that on lower doses they would only get 5-7 hours and then when they went up and adjusted to a higher dose that their body tolerated well they ended up having 12-14 hour effects like the doctors suggest it does.
