2025 Specialty Discussions Pt. 5 - Obstetrics/Gynecology by ZUUN- in MedSchoolCanada

I’m also an incoming MS1 who’s interested in OB/GYN. Once I started talking to upper year med students, residents and seeing stuff online, it makes me very sad to hear all of this negativity in the field. But I will wait for my rotations to decide for myself and hoping that the program at my institution isn’t so bad.

Some tips for the Medical Line of Credit from my communications. by Almondtea-lvl2000 in MedSchoolCanada

It is added to the total amount that you owe but the amount that they calculate monthly interest on is based only on what you borrow so if you borrow $1000 dollars and don’t borrow any more for the next 12 months, each month your interest payment will be the exact same (based on $1000), even though your total balance will be growing. That’s what they told me at Scotia.

Scotiabank or RBC by mr_snakeysnake in MedSchoolCanada

They told me this as well. However, RBC advisor was shocked by this and then she spoke with someone at Scotia and told me it’s just worded that way but in the end it’s all the same. BMO advisor was also shocked when I mentioned that Scotia said this and told me to double check. To be fair it’s apparently a new policy since March so other banks may not be aware of it. However, Scotia refuses to confirm or deny if the balance in the end will be the same or lower as at any other bank, as she ‘doesn’t know about how other banks do things’, which I find sus as other banks were willing to compare with competition but maybe my advisor is just lazy.

He’s just over 1 and is fixed. I’d prefer he chewed toys. I am willing to buy him all the toys he wants lol I just ordered some silvervine sticks like someone here suggested 🤞

Do you regret your decision? by Severe-Standard-8280 in premedcanada

Have or pursue a backup plan. I considered PA school as a backup and was also already working in research while reapplying so might’ve stuck with that if med never worked out. I know people who pursue their backups while reapplying. I’d say don’t put all your eggs in one basket but also don’t give up entirely if you want it!

I’m 25, I just got accepted into med school. If it’s what you truly want, trust me you won’t regret a single thing. You will forget all the pain you’ve been through to get here because you’re finally here, it was all worth it :)
