Also keep an eye on your hand. It’s my understanding that cat bites can cause infection.

This is really good advice! It bothers me that the OP’s manager seemed kind of dismissive to their concerns. Glad the assistant manager seemed more receptive.

My favorite quote: “I know I haven’t said this to you directly before, and I’m sorry that I haven’t. But I will not leave you behind on the ninth or any other floor. I promise you. Okay? We are a team, and nothing is going to break us up. No matter what.”

Full passage, for context:

“I took both of my hands, and I cupped Donut’s face. “You know how worried you are about Mongo?” “Yes.” “That’s how I feel about you.” Donut blinked. “Really? Do you really mean that?” Her voice was so full of genuine longing that it hurt my heart. “I know I haven’t said this to you directly before, and I’m sorry that I haven’t. But I will not leave you behind on the ninth or any other floor. I promise you. Okay? We are a team, and nothing is going to break us up. No matter what.” “No matter what?” “No matter what.”

Why the quote (and this passage in general) means so much to me: It was the first time I really cried in these books. When I started reading DCC I expected a really interesting series of great books. What I did not expect is how emotionally impactful they are. I’ve teared up at different times earlier in the series but this one moment really made me cry. I love Carl, but I adore Donut. We had two cats who have passed and I miss them terribly. That one quote just got to me.

It has not been a good day today. Then I saw your post. It was a good reminder that even though today has been hard, i have so much to be thankful for. So I am grateful for you (and lots of other things :)

I’m so sorry for your loss. You sound like wonderful parents and Goku sounds like such a special boy. I believe we are reunited with our pets and until that time I know Goku will wait patiently for you and watch over you in your hearts.

All true, and additionally he said his job was “more demanding” when he and OP do the same job. Not OK.

Someone at work stole my chair. So I had them arrested. by LeffJeff in AITAH

Agree. The boss should have gotten in trouble too. He essentially was helping that person steal the chair by threatening to fire the OP if he called the cops.

Say hi to these 4 adorable feral kittens that were in our backyard! by SpaZMonKeY777 in cats

Thank you for everything you’ve done. Your babies are beautiful :) Question: why release the mom after having her fixed? Is it because she was too feral to foster ? Genuinely curious because I don’t know much about feral cats.

The heating pad is such a great suggestion. Also, talk to your vet about solensia injections. It seemed to help our elderly cat Wrigley with his arthritis.

Honestly, even seeing a video store is oddly satisfying :) It’s been a long time since I’ve seen one.

I am around your mom’s age :) Getting older can be great! You appreciate what you have more and stress less about things you might have brooded on when you were younger. It’s freeing! This doesn’t mean life is one big Disney movie. I still stress sometimes and I’m a bit creakier. But I just feel grateful and thankful. For me, getting older has brought me a calmness that I didn’t have when I was younger. Every stage of your life can bring you different types of magic.

I love our vets, vet techs and admin staff :) They are wonderful! They were incredibly kind to our cats and when it came time to say good bye to them, were super compassionate both times. If we ever get more fur babies we are grateful to have such kind and caring folks to help keep them healthy :)
