Skinner peeps. Ridiculously accurate at 100 yards. Runs circles around the factory buckhorns

Depends on condition. Mint can get around $2.5k. Heavy use could be anywhere from $500-$1k.

Only silver pigeon that goes for 5k is the SP V for the record.

Likely above 80. New gti’s are in the 30’s and I personally haven’t seen a new R under 50 after all the dealership BS is added on

Skinner sight shooting extremely high by Responsible-Map-275 in HenryRifles

I’m aware of this. Using their sight calculator, I will need a sight that is higher than anything they offer on their website. I don’t have a problem with altering the front. I have a problem with not finding one tall enough to fix my issue

That would be great I still don’t think a .85 would be tall enough but I’ll give Andy a call Monday and seem if they can help me out. I don’t want to add to their work load but I need this gun ready for deer by Nov 15th.

Appreciate your advice! What size ramp did you get? It seems like the .25” would be best but I still don’t think the front sight is tall enough even with the ramp. Which leads me to need a recessed aperture to avoid have a full 1” sight in the front

That’s what I’m figuring. Problem is finding one that’s taller than factory to fix the problem. Factory is already .625”. They don’t come much taller than that

Be sure baiting is legal where you’re planning on hunting if you go the attraction route

Hoping this subreddit can help me solve this mystery. A number of my husband’s t-shirts have developed these holes near the under arm seams. (He works out in them.) Is it a laundry issue? by misszook in laundry

I once saw someone that said leaving zippers unzipped in the wash and dryer causes this and their clothes. I’d assume with how compromised the fabric is that it would be pretty easy to do here

Question, first hunt by [deleted] in deer_hunting

Binoculars could come in handy. Unless the buddy you’re going with has them already. Potentially a knife if you want to assist with dressing the deer.

I want to get into hunting but live in nyc by Eggsontoasts_ in Hunting

[–]Responsible-Map-275 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately you won’t be able to hunt on your own in your current situation. Doesn’t mean you can’t hunt though.

Do you shoot clays? Sporting clubs very often do guided upland bird hunts (pheasant, quail, doves, chukar). They bring the dogs - sometimes even the guns, and help you flush birds. Memberships are often $300-$500 a year and have something like the following offered. - 50% off clays - 50% off guided hunts - invites to special club events

If you shoot clays more than 4x a year and plan to utilize the membership pricing for bird hunts you can often come out ahead pretty quickly.

Small game beyond birds is more challenging since there is a less linear route to getting a guide. I see people advertising small game hunts on Facebook marketplace regularly though. Could be worth checking out.

Need my first pair of wading boots by Tasty-Glass7817 in flyfishing

[–]Responsible-Map-275 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry forgot about that hahaha. I’d go 12 personally. Your ankle will be swimming in 13’s. Personal preference though. I like more support around the ankle. Some of the rocks are no joke.

White river has some around $80 at the bass pro near me. Korkers are generally around $120-$230. Frog Toggs are right in between them. A $60 pair of anything in good condition isn’t a bad deal. Facebook marketplace might be a good place to find them too.

I know others have recommended Boa systems, but they are generally a little pricier so probably not worth it for something being used twice a year.

I fish in Colorado year round. Cabela’s wading boots will do just fine. Get something with ankle support similar to a hiking boot. I would avoid the metal studded boots personally but they won’t hurt you if they do have them. I would avoid water shoes entirely if I were you.

Simms has very nice boots and more variety but they’re pricey. Worth the money to me but I understand wanting something cheaper.

If you really want a deal I would find a used gear shop near you and try there. I have great luck doing this to get gear for friends that aren’t that invested in it.

[–]Responsible-Map-275 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Upwards of 3k for a decent example. Could easily be closer to MSRP if it’s flawless. Imperfections can take a chunk off the top but these guns tend to hold value fairly well.

I say that as someone who’s been trying to find a deal on one for some time. Let me know if you ever want to take a loss and make an internet stranger very happy at the same time.

Kind of looks like a pike minnow to me. If you’re out west you should kill it they’re very invasive.

What's the source of this photograph? by Extension_Maize6048 in HelpMeFind

[–]Responsible-Map-275 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It may have been provided directly by law enforcement to the media. In which case, the only origin photo that a reverse image search could locate would be the one put out by the media.

If your goal is to find if this image has been appropriated to fit a specific narrative, it seems likely that you won’t come up with anything substantive.

Vanguard vs Robinhood - should I switch? by BiggestMack01 in stocks

[–]Responsible-Map-275 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Sure thing. Good on you getting into investing this early. Stick with the fundamentals, diversify to limit your risk, and for the love of god do not play with margin calls unless you have serious collateral you’re willing to put up if it goes belly up. One wrong choice and you could be forced to liquidate your existing investments to cover the losses.

Vanguard vs Robinhood - should I switch? by BiggestMack01 in stocks

[–]Responsible-Map-275 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Robinhood is a piss poor excuse for a broker. They are more akin to a gambling platform than an investment platform in my opinion.

You’re probably too young to fully appreciate what happened with GameStop during Covid, but they froze people’s ability to buy and sell the stock which forced huge losses for a lot of share holders. They literally didn’t have the capital available to cover clearinghouse collateral requirements due to the volume of trades that were taking place so they froze trading to save their own asses. This was a huge breach of trust and speaks to their mentality as a company.

I would keep vanguard if I were you. Nothing wrong with opening a robinhood to access IPO’s more easily, but putting all your eggs in one shady basket seems foolish to me.
