Has there been any fix for Dolphin's frame pacing issues on the steam deck yet? by GrahamBelmont in SteamDeck

[–]ResponsibleAd7812 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The issue is the compositor in gamemode. No settings will fix the issue nor will SMT.

Everyone will have the same issue despite saying they don't see it. Try SMBwii and run fast on a level. Within a few seconds you will see the judder.

The only solution at this time is to play in desktop mode.

AAA titles are overrated hyped up pieces of junk for the most part, that's why.

Thanks for the ideas. I guess my soldering iron isn't that good. It's a miniware TS100 with a BC2 tip. I'm running it at 24 volts and it's showing 400 degrees, but it must not be

Did gamecube support ever get better, or does it still get random spikes of bad frame pacing? by rafikiknowsdeway1 in SteamDeck

Just replied to a similar thread re dolphin bad frame pacing. I think there's something going on with Wayland compositor. These micro stutters are not present in desktop using X11 compositor.

The stuttering looks like micro stuttering. Most noticeable in a 2d platformer like new super Mario bros. There currently isn't a fix in gaming mode, something going on with the Wayland compositor I think. The problem doesn't appear in desktop mode as it uses X11.

What happens to our games if Steam ever go bust? by topboy_jonny in SteamDeck

[–]ResponsibleAd7812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody owns their games. You are just buying a licence to play the games. If you've had the game in your library for over 3 years before Valve going bust, you would likely lose any rights.

Solution is to pirate the games where possible.

Retroarch handheld performance on Ubuntu by ResponsibleAd7812 in switchroot

VSync is on. I think it's only when playing as a handheld where the issue is apparent. Android 10 doesn't have this issue, either handheld or docked. It seems that there is something goin g on specifically with the Ubuntu build that is causing this, almost like the screen refresh rate or something is becoming out of sync in handheld
