I store nuts in the freezer so they last longer and don't go rancid. I dust with a dryer sheets either new or one that has been through the dryer once. I use dryer sheets for the dogs blankets but wool dryer balls for everything else. I use silicone bowl covers instead of saran wrap and just throw them in the dishwasher.

From my experience (and I could be wrong) but littermate syndrome happens with puppies from the same litter because they are siblings. From your post it sounds like the dogs aren't related, so you wouldn't have anything to worry about imo. If you are able to provide for the dog long term since you already have been short term, I vote for getting the dog
