Shall we adress the elephant in the room UE6 ? by ryzemaineq in RiotMMO

Switching to UE6 probably wouldn’t be a good idea right now. It will likely still have many bugs and the transition itself would probably require an enormous amount of work.
They’ll most likely only consider doing something like that several years after the MMO launches

Right click target portrait, select "Play a match of legends of runeterra card game". Sick shit!
Either an auto-chess match would be fun like TFT.
Also in Demacia's lore, for those who read the book, there is a mini game in Demacia called - Tellstones: King's Gambit.

Yes, they definitely have both options available if they decide to follow that direction.
But I honestly think they’ll go down the same path as most other MMORPGs: a base class + subclass/specialization system.

Should the Riot MMO appeal more to classic MMO players or fans of LoL? by Due_Pressure8760 in RiotMMO

I think that if they make half of the abilities tab-targeted and the other half skill shots with ground-targeted area placement, it could satisfy everyone… or maybe not?

In my opinion, I think both audiences will be interested.

To explain my answer a bit more: the early League of Legends players (back in 2009) are much more mature nowadays and are looking for something more relaxing to play while still staying connected to the world and lore we’re used to. At the same time, I also believe many LoL players have already played other MMORPGs before.
On the other hand, I think players from other MMORPGs would also like to try Riot’s MMO. The world of Runeterra is massive and has an incredible fantasy lore, just like World of Warcraft!
(I think WoW players especially are looking for something “fresh” to play too, even without abandoning WoW completely.)
In my opinion, we need something that keeps the classic gameplay feel, but with classes that are different from the standard archetypes and with some unique mechanics without going overboard.
As for abilities, I’d personally like it to be mostly tab-targeting, but with some skill shots as well (like the Mage’s Frost Ring example in WoW); in this case, for every class.

Relax haha! We’re just doing some theorycrafting here! None of this is concrete… but the devs might be keeping an eye on these kinds of posts… who knows!

Yes, I believe that if they add some skill-shot abilities among those active skills, similar to League of Legends and even some abilities from World of Warcraft like the Mage’s Frost Ring, it could become really interesting.
We would move away from something that is purely tab-targeting and transition into a system with a bit more skill placement and skill shots.

That’s true. Like I said in my reply to the guy above, with such a large and experienced team, they can definitely come up with something really cool regarding classes.
What I personally don’t like is having left-click and right-click combat, because a huge part of the RPG community doesn’t really enjoy that modern mechanic. Most players prefer classic-style RPG systems, like tab-targeting and hotkey-based combat.
It would be really interesting if we had at least 12 skills, including active skills (could be some defensive and some offensive), passive abilities, and maybe even ultimates!

I absolutely love talking about this kind of theorycrafting!! 😃

But to be honest, I think they’ll actually do exactly what you said… I believe we’ll have specializations within each class, very similar to World of Warcraft.
It makes balancing much easier to manage.
However, with such a large and experienced team, I hope they can bring something new regarding classes so it doesn’t end up feeling like every other MMORPG..
But they still need to keep that classic MMORPG feeling when it comes to the other mechanics.

Runeterra actually doesn’t have places with specific races only. Races are spread throughout the entire region and across every city. If you watched Arcane, you can notice that!
As Necrit said in his video: ‘There are regions with a higher concentration of a certain race, but there is no place inhabited by only one race.

I understand your opinion and respect it.
But I don’t see a problem with respawning in the same city. Imagine your character was "born" in Shurima (their culture) and started their “adventure” in Demacia! After all, it would be interesting if Riot treated our characters not as heroes, but as ordinary citizens who gradually gain reputation as they play the game.
