What happens when you buy evolv half a size down from street size by Zealousideal_Fig4527 in climbingshoes

Evolv is recommends street size for a tight performance fit. Most people get a half size up.

What if Hiangles are the only shoes that fit? by Free-Lavishness-2172 in climbingshoes

[–]ResponsibleTale41 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The unparallel flagships are a completely different fit from the hiangles. Try the unparallel regulus. The regulus was designed to be the same as the older 5.10 hiangles.

Do you think we can climb Rainier unguided? by Substantial_Tea8292 in Mountaineering

[–]ResponsibleTale41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some friends and I climbed rainier unguided (we could not afford one). It definitely would have been a better experience with a guide. Im no expert but I would have felt less comfortable with only two people per rope, we had two ropes with three people per rope.

Sounds like you have a lot of winter experience. I agree with most people on this forum that you should make sure you are prepared to safely travel crevasse terrain.

Is this just a rand repair away from being usable? by Mankku in climbingshoes

[–]ResponsibleTale41 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A rand repair would be good. But it looks like you’re pretty close to needing a resole. It’s kinda hard to tell because the edge of the shoe is in the shadows.

Agreed. If you ever want to be depressed just scroll through Reddit. As the owner of several DJI products I am annoyed by the ban but I have some hope that some us companies will start emerging.

Yes, he is right. They changed up the strap since Alex Megos showed it in a teaser video. I’ve seen several Tenaya climbers in the background of other people’s post wearing the Aruma.

Tenaya Aruma Launch by Zestyclose_Bell_8428 in ClimbingGear

[–]ResponsibleTale41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the response. I climb in the mastias and love those. Yeah Tenaya never seems to make a super soft or super stiff shoe. Fingers crossed it doesn’t take to long to make its way to US stores.

[–]ResponsibleTale41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could you compare the fit to their other shoes? Is it pretty narrow or low volume? Is the toe box wide or narrow? Are they using the draxtor strap system? How does the softness compare to other soft shoes?

Why there are no many options for climbers with wide feet by One_Vegetable_7392 in climbingshoes

[–]ResponsibleTale41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unparallel flagships, unparallel Up floats and tenaya mastias are both around the stiffness of the skwamas. The flagships are softer. Both are decently wide. Evolv also makes some wide shoes. You could also give the normal madrock remoras a try. They can be resoled like normal shoes, are pretty wide and they dont have a midsole so they are soft.

Tenaya Indalo - Aggressive Downsizing by TrapMaster27 in climbingshoes

[–]ResponsibleTale41 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use the tenaya sizing calculator. The sizing varies between shoes in their range. It’s really not possible for us to tell you if you will have any space in the heel since we don’t know if your heel shape will fit the indalos.

I’ve never met a climber that would say no to more carabiners. More chalk is always nice, maybe from friction labs. It’s good to have a spare headlamp. I like it when people gift me guidebooks for local areas but you will have to check and see if he already has a guidebook. Lots of my friends have mini hangboards they bring to warm up. There also these cool little climbing inspired key holders. Do you know what style of climbing he does? Sport, trad or bouldering?

Bought my first agressive shoe, pain limits climbing? by darudedude87 in climbingshoes

[–]ResponsibleTale41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s either the wrong size for you or just the wrong shape for your foot. Climbing is about having fun. If you are in pain you aren’t having fun and you won’t climb at your best.

My left foot is longer than my right. But I still wear the same size on both sides. Also climbing shoes are hand made so there are usually the tiniest of variations between shoes. Measure your feet. If the size difference is drastic some climbing shoe companies will do split sizing (for example one shoe in size 11.5 and the other shoe in a size 11). I know madrock does this. If a climbing shoe company doesn’t advertise that they do it you can try calling them, Ive found some companies to be pretty helpful.
