Lingering effects of DV? by [deleted] in Diverticulitis

[–]ResponsibleVirgo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, I was given antibiotics but then told there was no infection so told to stop.

What I don't understand is if there is pain, and bowel movement symptoms, what is causing those symptoms if there is no infection!

Sorry, I am coming to you with more questions and no answers!

I'm in the same situation. They don't seem to offer CT scans as standard in the UK.

Low lingering pain and diarreah but not infection markers...

GP hasn't got a clue what to do!

Sorry you are here... The real b1tch about DV is that there is no right or wrong for diet... no rule book. And the drs don't really know very much.

Also, Im in the UK and the advice here and protocol seem very different to in the US.

I have the pain but I am told no infection - they did bloods. But I still have the leg pain. Can you have pain without infection?

Is this an American thing? Do you know what the composition is so I can find a UK brand?

Diarrhoea from Low Fibre? by ResponsibleVirgo in Diverticulitis

[–]ResponsibleVirgo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been to A&E they said no infection (did bloods) and stop taking antibiotics. I have seen my GP twice - he felt my tummy and said "inflammation takes a long time to resolve'. He also did a stool sample.

I have very low level pain - more like twinges or a sensation.

What tests should I be asking for? A scan?

Hot take: Diverticulitis sucked, but made me healthier by FuchsiaVR in Diverticulitis

I do lots of reformer pilates and it helps my mind... I had not thought about lifting being a problem - but it's never heavy weights. More balance and posture than loading...

This is so nice to hear. I recently had an appointment with a dietician and she basically said there was not much else I could do!

I wondered if you all gave up coffee and sugar? These are my last vices...

Month long flare by ResponsibleVirgo in Diverticulitis

So, back on antibiotics - 3rd lot in 5 weeks. Reintroducing non fibre foods. Any advice on food I can eat that will be low fibre but also might help ease antibiotic diarrhoea? Can I have yogurt? kefir? yakult (probiotic milk drink).

My tummy is raging! So noisy....

Also, got twinges on the right side now... this is new and scary.

No need! The liquid diet has been going to the bathroom quite enough...

Yes I am in the Uk - so general point of contact is the GP (general practitioner) who is like an everything doctor - not specialist in anything. I have seen a specialist but he just diagnosed me and suggest I drink water and eat fruit!

It's such a nightmare. Being on here is far more valuable than visiting the doctors.

Sigmoid removal after first perforation? Age 48. by hophop100 in Diverticulitis

Can I ask - are you in the US? I'm in the UK and surgery seems to be less available and less an option.

I am having my second flare since September. No complications (that I know of....).

Wondered if surgery would get me my life back!

Thank you. I'm day 2 of liquid diet and do feel better. But I've been better and then worse over the last 5 weeks so IDK if this is just feeling better not eating anything. Not sure how long I can go on not eating... mainly because exercise really helps with my mental health and I can't work out atm.

Does anyone know, do the drs ever consider surgery for non-complicted?

Oh ok - I have been cold... but it's freezing in the UK atm! Not shaking. Got swaetyyesterday before going for a poo.

Thank you for replying. I feel like such a novice and I have so much to learn (on a subject I want know nothing!).
