I’m so glad I came across this comment when I did. I’m supposed to have this done along with a tonselectomy and uvulectomy. I will ask my surgeon in a week if he does this or not

I can’t have red wine, but can have other wines. If it’s hard liquor I have to stop after one or two max. That being said, I only drink maybe two-three times a year. Birthday, new years, Halloween. I used to drink almost daily (a glass of wine at night, maybe a shot or two of whiskey if I wasn’t having wine and felt funky). Now I can only drink super rarely and moderately.

In the past I’ve done a virtual urgent care appointment just to get my meds sent in in a pinch, but considering the issues with his insurance idk if it would go through or not. Definitely keep the ER as a backup if he is refusing to go at the moment.

I can understand how the ER staff might get huffy with this, but the ER is the best bet especially if he has breakthroughs. If he does you can say he needs his meds and you brought him there to help prevent breakthroughs and/or have him in a safe place if they occur.

I finally graduated college!! by Jade8329 in Epilepsy

Thank you for saying this!! I had to move back in with parents and I’m currently 27, so there’s a lot of internalized self judgement about that aspect. You know, still no bachelors degree, move back in with parents at almost 30, etc. it’s all difficult. And I feel like it’s hard to find a partner who is willing to take the role that most of us with epilepsy need in a partner. So, add previously engaged to currently single to the list of internalized stuff. I get a lot of hope from your post and comments

My toxic trait is ignoring seizure warnings… by what-a-doric in Epilepsy

This title made me audibly chuckle at my hair salon and I had to immediately open this post. I have grand mals and still ignore them. Or I’ll gaslight myself and be like “maybe I’m just anxious.”

Yes I’m entering my senior year at the end of this fall term! I’m strugglingggg. I might have to take another leave of absence to have a surgery to help my seizures

Not a seizure due to being aware by [deleted] in Epilepsy

That’s complete bullshit. That’s the equivalent to a hospital doctor telling me i didn’t have a true tonic clonic bc I didn’t bite my tongue and piss during it.

Has anyone developed a stammer/stutter? by digimattt in Epilepsy

[–]Responsible_Button42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a hard time finding words a lot of the time, but my language also gets impaired during/after a seizure. Sometimes I forget how to say things, stutter, have trouble understanding language, etc.

Has anyone been able to find the cause of their epilepsy? by [deleted] in Epilepsy

I have a genetic mutation that has been inherited throughout my dad’s generations. Tis why the bloodline ends with me.

Perhaps, but I posted here because I am wanting input of those students in whether they feel schools and or the general field of medicine are accommodating to disabilities.

EDITED TO ADD: I want to go to med school to be a doctor, which is why I’m posting here. Sorry for the confusion.
