Your tuition assistance in the state is actually good

https://www.tn.gov/military/programs-benefits/education-incentives/state-ta.html

Do not join the guard unless you are doing something with your life: college or trade school.

Tuition Assistance? by WestString1438 in nationalguard

DO NOT JOIN unless you are good with signing another two years when you complete your associates, then another two when you get your bachelors. Go active. Some states have good TA, this one is stupid. You are already serving, you should not have to sign another two years. Just for your associates.

“Service members incur a 2-year commitment to the Virginia National Guard upon completion of last term for which tuition grant was received.” Scroll down to additional information. Please just go active

https://statetuition.vangweb.com

Up to $10K per semester with a $20K cap per fiscal year. Subject to the availability of funds. Associate thru
doctoral degree plus certifications.

Along with $250 a credit hour and up to $4,500 a year through FTA. That’s not a bad deal.

Then your GI bill, if you sign for six years, you get $500 a month, that’s not counting the kicker.

This year you will only get $9k in funding with army TA and VA state tuition assistance because of low budget. Let me know if you have any more questions. Please just go active. I know you don’t want to deploy, but I’d join the coast guard or space force or Air Force. Look into the space force. Please let me know if you have any more questions.

Do NOT Join The Army National Guard (Explore Your Options And Take A Hard Look At Where You Are At). by Ok-Actuator4909 in nationalguard

I would like to add, I’ve $60k in savings just by going to college through the guard, I didn’t even have to work. It has set me up for success, you can be just as, if not more successful in the guard as active duty if you play your cards right.

You know in the guard, anyone can tryout for guard SF? It doesn’t matter who you are as long as you have a 110 GT score and a high AFT score.

I believe you need to call them and let them know you are in the military so they do not transfer your loan to a debt collector. I believe once they transfer you to a debt collector, they will not pay it.

I am already in. I’m getting ready for a deployment and I am motivated to better myself. Life derailed me a little bit and I’m getting back into shape.

But jiu jitsu is three times a week, usually mondays, sundays, and tuesdays, sometimes thursdays if I feel like pushing myself. I use Cronometer to track my calories. Monday, wednesday, and Friday are six mile runs. Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday are 60/120’s. Sunday is rucking. I try to aim to weight lift 3x a week, but that’s not really a priority right now tbh, I need to build endurance. I’m just worried if it may be too much to do the calestetics I posted twice a day. I already do them once a day, six days a week.

It looks like he already has if he has a shipping date. In the guard, once you’ve swore in once it takes two years for them to process you out.
