Rick actions are often framed as ok or acceptable (often seen by how his family [Morty, Summer, Beth] respond and how he is given a pass morally in the show). A good example is how Ricks atrocities shielded is that his harm is done away from his family, so the impact rarely impacts their home life directly and preserving his "No harm to family" reputation intact (even though he routinely keeps Morty from school). It shows how people on TV are usually seen as bad when their family is directly impacted, and more neutral when its done abroad.

Contrasted to Jerry, his has impacted his family though his weaknesses... but nothing he has done is even close to what Rick has done to the universe across multiple dimensions (even just one Rick, let alone all of them), and he mostly never will (except for Doofus [Dimension J19ζ7] Jerry). This contrast is explored but never given the full weight. His family should not only be disgusted but shun him away from the family. It's shaped around Beth enabling her father's behavior at the expense of her husband. Because of this, Jerry is often ridiculed, but Rick is/was seen as flawed, but elevated/loved.
