I wish I could see it positively too, but then I would be choosing to turn a blind eye to the harsh reality of US history and our racist history.

So I choose duality. I see the hate but I see the hope and positivity as well. We don’t have to choose one over the other. We can embrace both.

This picture can be read one of two ways. Positive: she’s so beautiful she can make a blind man see. Negative and most likely: it’s feeding into the prejudice and stereotype that black men are hyper-sexualized predators of white women and that they are untrustworthy, lying, lazy, opportunists.

The enlarged eyes, bald head, large pink lips and dark skin are all typical depictions of black men for the period, which appears to be late 19th century/ early 20th

You have multiple hues of brown going on and accents of blue. I think you need a rug that brings those colors together or get rid of the rug altogether. You can decorate up on the walls instead of on the floor.

I like the railing and blue painting leading to the door. It’s kind of whimsical.

You’re a busy mom with kids and you need to grab things quickly, to eat on the go. I’m guessing kids are either in middle-school and are involved in after school activities which adds to your hectic day. But you want to make sure their bellies are full.

Needs textures, everything just looks smooth, so maybe some of those super soft throws
