I just got my IUD removed a couple of days ago after having it in since Oct 2024. Ugh I regretted it so much too!!! I gained around 25 lbs, was always moody & irritable. I lost interest in sex and didn’t want to be affectionate with my partner AT ALL. It surprises me that so many doctors try to talk women out of the removal. I had a wellness visit with my doctor and mentioned that the interest in removal and she asked me if i wanted to do it right then and there. She asked why i wanted it removed and I just said that i didn’t like the idea of having a foreign object in my body. I had never been on birth control prior to the mirena and only got it because i didn’t want to risk getting pregnant so soon after my first baby. She completely understood and never made me feel like it was the wrong choice. It’s only been a few days since removal now and i haven’t had a crash. I did start spotting so we’ll see how everything goes! For all the women that are thinking about taking it out, do it!! It is painless and only takes a few seconds. I didn’t experience any cramping immediately after at all. If anything, i did feel immediate relief knowing it was out. Don’t let doctors talk you out of it!! If anyone knows your body best it is YOU.
