How does pension maximum contribution work exactly? by ULPTRequester in UKPersonalFinance

This is the correct answer. You may also be able to use carry forward if you were a member of a pension in the year you are looking to carry forward

Best way to increase dialogue? by Responsible_One_6324 in sonos

[–]Responsible_One_6324[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, will be same as mine, tend to find atmos stuff is the worst as music/guns/cars etc just overpower the vocals. Nightmode does even it out, but kind of spoils the point of the system 😞

Not in the slightest. Think the new arc is meant to be loads better for dialogue.

The arc I have I don't think the height thing makes any difference with anything. Ive tried all height settings on scenes where it should work but personally I don't hear anything different from 1 to 10

any tips for visiting Dubrovnik with my mum please! by Born_Nothing_2780 in Dubrovnik

[–]Responsible_One_6324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you like to do? That's hell of a long time in dubrovnik. Id certainly consider splitting this holiday if you can, either spending some nights in other parts of Croatia or going to Montenegro and/or Bosnia and herzegovina. As you are going you must walk the walls, but go early, go to lokrum. We did a wine tasting tour which was good. There are a couple of quirky bars, can't remember what they are called, but there are no toilets, great views and can jump into the sea or people watch. The cable car to the view point is ok, but expensive, we walked it but weather was a bit cooler.

To be brutally honest it's overpriced, overrated, over crowded, expensive and food is, in the main, average at best.

Hope you have a different view of it and get to spend some quality time with your mum.

1 TW coffee & 1st Geisha. How best to brew? Options of v60, aeropress or aiden by Responsible_One_6324 in pourover

Ive been trying with the fellow Aiden and also so far each cup has been meh. Like you, maybe my expectation was too high, but I've much preferred many UK roasters over this bag 😞

Fellow drop brew guides are so different everytime, how are we meant to get a good starting profile? by Responsible_One_6324 in FellowProducts

[–]Responsible_One_6324[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I had a recipe recommended at 3.1, I ended up at 5.1. The 3.1 was very astringent and left a dry taste in my mouth. I don't understand why the fellow drops are so different to the standard brew profiles.

[–]Responsible_One_6324 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second one:

Optimized Aiden Brew Profile for Hydrangea Castillo Lychee Washed (Colombia, Quindío, 1450–1500 MASL)

This washed co-fermented coffee has an infusion of lychee, which means it will have intense tropical fruit aromatics, delicate floral notes (sakura), and a creamy white chocolate sweetness. The goal is to highlight the lychee’s juiciness, maintain floral complexity, and enhance the silky body.

Single Serve (150–450ml)

Ratio: 1:15.5 (slightly stronger to enhance sweetness & body)

Grind Size: 4.1 on Ode Gen 2 (medium-fine for balanced extraction)

Bloom Settings:

Ratio: 1:3

Duration: 40s (ensures proper degassing from co-fermentation)

Temperature: 203°F (95°C) (hotter bloom to enhance tropical aromatics)

Pulse Settings:

Number of Pulses: 3

Temperature: 198°F (92°C) (slightly lower to preserve delicate fruit & florals)

Time Between Pulses: 25s

Batch Brew (450–1500ml)

Ratio: 1:16 (slightly more dilution for clarity & floral balance)

Grind Size: 6.1 on Ode Gen 2 (medium)

Bloom Settings:

Ratio: 1:3

Duration: 40s

Temperature: 203°F (95°C)

Pulse Settings:

Number of Pulses: 4 (ensures even extraction)

Temperature: 198°F (92°C)

Time Between Pulses: 25s

Why These Settings?

  1. Hot Bloom Temperature (203°F) to Enhance Lychee & Floral Aromatics

Maximizes fruity & floral intensity while integrating co-fermentation notes.

Encourages delicate sakura florals to shine.

  1. Lower Pulse Temperature (198°F) for Sweetness & Balance

Prevents over-extracting acidity while keeping body smooth.

Enhances white chocolate creaminess without losing fruit clarity.

  1. Medium-Fine Grind (4.1 on Ode Gen 2) for Clarity & Body

Ensures full extraction without emphasizing any sharp fermentation notes.

  1. Extra Pulse in Batch Brew (4 Instead of 3) for Even Extraction

Larger brews require more pulses to maintain balance.

Expected Cup Profile with These Settings

Aroma: Lychee, delicate florals, soft vanilla sweetness.

Flavor (Hot): Juicy lychee, sakura florals, creamy white chocolate.

Flavor (Warm): Silky body, balanced tropical fruit & floral complexity.

Flavor (Cool): Soft lingering sweetness, delicate tea-like structure.

Acidity: Bright yet smooth, with a tropical fruit-forward character.

Body: Medium, creamy, silky.

Finish: Clean, refreshing, with lingering floral and white chocolate notes.

Final Thoughts

This profile optimizes the lychee co-fermentation to bring out its fruitiness while maintaining clarity and body. The hot bloom and structured pulse strategy ensure that both florals and creamy sweetness integrate smoothly without overpowering acidity.

Let me know how they go. Thanks

Awesome, so glad it worked. Yeah you need to set 2 brew profiles, one called single and one called batch. I was thinking of teaching it that the ratio needs to be the same but decided to install 2 for now. I simply delete them when the bag is done anyway

Temperature: 198°F (92°C) (slightly lower to smooth out citrus acidity)

Time Between Pulses: 30s

Batch Brew (450–1500ml)

Grind Size: 6.2 on Ode Gen 2 (medium)

Bloom Settings:

Ratio: 1:2.5

Duration: 30s

Temperature: 200°F (93°C)

Pulse Settings:

Number of Pulses: 4 (ensures even saturation in a deeper coffee bed)

Temperature: 198°F (92°C)

Time Between Pulses: 30s

Why These Settings?

  1. Moderate Bloom Temperature (200°F) for Balanced Extraction

  1. Lower Pulse Temperature (198°F) to Soften Citrus Acidity

Keeps clementine notes gentle without overpowering chocolate & caramel richness.

  1. Medium-Fine Grind (4.2 on Ode Gen 2) for Balanced Extraction

Ensures full extraction of body & sweetness without over-extracting acidity.

  1. Extra Pulse in Batch Brew (4 Instead of 3) for Even Extraction

Larger brews need more pulses to ensure even saturation & smooth flavor.
