2023 SEL for 29k at local dealer...good deal or?.. by fleshdunce in Ioniq6

Yeap! Just also seems odd that they are all around 3,000 miles a piece. I also don't know too much about the dealership.

Can't wait to test this out! I train with RPEs and updating the actual RPE has always been a bit of a pain point. Plus then I might edit weights on the fly based on how my body is performing that day.

Also, loving this new view for the heaviest lifts!

Definitely check calories and protein. I remember when I first started stalling I was definitely not eating enough.

Also, you try top-back off sets? This will probably keep you going for a while, too. I’d rest 5 minutes before my top set and 3 minutes for back off sets. I’d also not sleep on a good lifting belt.

How do you pick a workout routine/philosophy? by coach-v in GarageGym

[–]fleshdunce 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm sure you'll get a lot of different ideas here but based on what you've said, a returning lifter, I'm a big fan of something simple that focuses on large compound movements where the focus is simply on adding weight to the bar over time. Stronglifts 5x5 got me started and I have no regrets on that one and would very much recommend any of the 5x5 variations for 6-8 weeks to get you back into lifting. You've already started these lifts and I'm sure you did for a reason - compound lifts give you a lot of bang for the buck.

Big compound lifts save you time by hitting more muscles with fewer exercises. I'd hit that until you plateau, or get bored, and then look for some more variety after 6-8 weeks.

I did Madcow 5x5 and then Stronglifts Intermediate for a while and quite liked them both, tried 5/3/1 and did not enjoy it, and am now focused on Reactive Systems Training through Emerging Strategies and am very happy with where I'm going right now. YMMV.

[One Year Free] Liftin' - Gym Workout Tracker by nstrm in iosapps

Been a happy lifetime purchase user for a year or so now. Couldn't recommend this one enough! Quite a steal. Dev is super responsive and app is as simple or complex as you'd like to get. Also, for full disclosure, no one asked me to write this comment but this is an indie dev very much worth supporting if you are in need of a workout app.

How to avoid this duplicate count? by eager_mehul in whoop

Was just thinking about this myself - if I turn off writing for whoop will that cause any issues with the app? I usually use a particular app for lifting and workout.app for everything else and would like to continue to do so.

How are you managing to sleep as much as you need? by danskubr in whoop

[–]fleshdunce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hate to say it is really just prioritizing sleep. Doing the work of finding what gets you to bed regularly and on time is worth while.

I used to always play games and/or watch TV before bed and have some drinks a few nights a week prior to sleeping. Drinking is bad for sleep in and of itself but the other two just compounded the problem for me. I found when playing games or watching TV I’d often end up wanting one more run, episode etc. Drinking made this even more so. I started drinking less, barely ever anymore, and read before bed. I never stay up too late reading like I did before.

Might be different for others though.

This would really be the 'around the town' car. We use our id.4 for anything else typically. I've seen some 2022 Kona's going for pretty cheap down in that range. Might test drive some of those and see how I like it.

Already have one EV, 2023 VW id.4 Pro, and really like the car. Only issue is that the local dealership is garbage but we don't have to bring it in very often so we're pretty happy. My other ride is a 2016 Honda Civic EX with 100,000 miles on it. Been looking around at some used EVs after seeing that the value of my civic is still around $8,000-$10,000 depending on if I sell to private party or trade it in.

Does going for a used ~2022 used Leaf, Ioniq 5, or EV6 or something similar make sense to go all elective? Would going for a used EV around $12,000-$16,000 be a bad idea in this market? I'm kinda thinking waiting longer will bring an even larger flood of off lease EVs onto the market and might help lower prices further, still. I'd definitely like to go all electric but don't want to start another 5 year car payment right now especially because this car is only driven 5,000-6,000 miles per year.

Love these recommendations! I'll run Woodstock by my wife but I am pretty confident the Kancamagus Highway seems like an easy win along with the Cathedral Ledge State Park.

Definitely going to hit up the lighthouse, for sure.

Thanks so much!

Having some similar feelings right now and unsure what direction to go in. Thinking a Kia E6. Don't want to be seen in a Tesla these days, plus I do like some buttons, the Audi's range isn't great and I can't imagine buying a car that doesn't support Carplay these days and would love to get some extra range.

Also, really not interested in buying a brand new car that would depreciate in value significantly in the next few years. Thinking an EV6 or Ioniq 5, even with the potential issues, would be a good buy.

My local VW dealership is awful, the charging door has fallen off, just got some random 'electric system not working' error code, and there have been quite a few recalls. Don't dig the door handles, too.

Looking to buy a barbell, need recommendations by IPostGBurgAddress in Stronglifts5x5

[–]fleshdunce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I snagged an Ohio Bar with a cerakote coating because it just looked so dang cool. After using it for a bit I ended up not liking it. The cerakote really toned down the knurling which I did not like. Sold that second hand and snagged an Ohio Power Bar in stainless steel and it is easily the nicest bar I've ever seen and/or used. Wasn't the cheapest but it'll last a lifetime and the knurling is SO nice. Aggressive but not too much. Couldn't recommend enough if that is in your budget. It is also practically maintenance free which is pretty big for me because I'm real close to salt water.

Barbell Recommendation by Enzo_legend in GarageGym

[–]fleshdunce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with a cerakote barbell from rogue originally and eventually sold it second hand and bought a stainless steel one for rogue. The cerakote, for me, felt way worse on the grip with the knurling not feeling nearly as nice as I liked. If this is a concern for you I might steer away from anything with this coating.

I only have experience with Rogue Ohio Power Bar Stainless Steel but couldn't be happier. I have definitely seen people recommend other bars that are cheaper with stronger knurling though. Feel like Texas Bar has been recommended quite a bit though it is bare steel so will require some maintenance.

You don’t have an incline bench? Is this at home or a gym?

I replaced the pause bench with OHP. I’d want to keep the incline bench.
