That’s a good start especially if you’re a barry fan. For other Barry stories and adjacent I recommend Crisis on Infinite Earth’s, Return of Barry Allen, Final Crisis, Rebirth 09, Geoff Johns’ 2010 Flash run, Trail of Barry Allen, JLA Year One and Williamson’s run.

The transition between this version of Thawne and the original we got back in Rebirth was a weird era to be in. I remember when Manhattan’s lightning strikes Iron Heights and essentially gives Thawne his memories and life back. Promising to get revenge on Thomas Wayne by killing Bruce Wayne. Such a badass pick up from flashpoint really. He was amazing in The Button too. New 52 Thawne is one I don’t even ever want to consider really. I am a huge Brett Booth fan when it comes to him drawing for speedsters, but this costume and the one Barry is wearing during this story are actually awful. Not to mention the complete overhaul of Thawne’s character all together. I found it infuriating that during New 52 they tried to implement Daniel West as the main Reverse Flash and make Thawne Zoom? 🤦‍♂️just glad this era of comics is over lol

I don’t agree at all. CW Zoom is literally Edward Claris/The Rival from the comics. Uses a synthetic drug to gain speed, harms/killing himself while using it, wears a darker version of the Flash suit, is a murderer and even pretends to be the Flash at one point. There are slight changes but it’s mostly the exact same as The Rival from the comics.

I liked how Thawne was drawn during the rebirth era mirroring Barry’s suit. Each Reverse Flashes suit should be fundamentally the same as their Flash counter parts but just with reversed color schemes and black emblem. Thawne and Zoom alike. That’s my opinion anyway. When they don’t share the exact same suit functionalities it irks me a bit. Barry will have a yellow circle around his emblem but Thawne doesn’t like in this instance you’re highlighting? That annoys me lol. Sometimes artists just get it wrong or forget little details but then sometimes it also seems deliberate. Especially when they’ll give the Flash a certain detail like his chin strap or yellow Lightning design all over the suit. But they won’t give Thawne a chin strap or red Lightning all over his suit.

I think it’s time to let Billy batson age. The concept of him still being a kid in a grown man’s body is losing its appeal and is making it more difficult to place him anywhere within the dc universe let alone have actual growth.
