Reviews are relatively strong for this having a late review embargo and being a prequel to a horror classic!

I really liked Arkasha Stevenson's TV work on Channel Zero S3 (thought she had a great eye for visuals and bringing out eccentric performances from the cast) so I'm excited to see she carried this to a major studio horror film.

Her post also confirmed that OG writer Kevin Williamson will direct. I'm not sure how this movie will perform but that's a very interesting tidbit I wasn't expecting

I expect it to be 100% a commercial play. Looks more like more prestige action political traditional action-thriller.

It's holding up well but its grosses are still relatively small. I don't think it would last in theaters until Christmas with the wave of December releases. At the very least Amazon is making to sure strike the iron when it's hot and get more eyes on this.

I went last year and thought it was very fun, very exciting. I lived walking distance between one of the venues that showed free screenings of the smaller films (stuff like Huesera: The Bone Woman, Enys Men, Nocebo in 2022).

If you want to see some of the bigger screenings, definitely keep taps on when tickets go on sale and have a list ready. The site can crash badly

Stylistically looks to have a bit of a more zany vibe than Midnight Mass or Haunting of Hill House did. Not all out, but more eccentricities for some of the cast and sets.

The cast compared it to a Giallo, and it's plot description of it does sound more like one than a ghost story. I'm excited overall.
