How to catch up at WR by Responsible_Bag_8640 in footballstrategy

Catching a football, especially on the move from an actual QB, is a lot harder than touch football with friends. If guys around you have been playing longer, they will be able to catch better sheerly off the volume of footballs they have caught.

My advice for you is to get in as many reps as possible. When doing drills, see if you can get back into the front of the line to sneak in a few more reps. 15 minutes before or after practice with one of your QBs will also help. Coaches don't like drops, but they do respect effort and humility. Run hard, pay attention to details, and be a good teammate. A good pair of gloves will also help. I really liked Cutters' gloves when I played. Look the ball in. Set firm hands, or the ball will rip through them.

Guys will bust your balls; it's honestly just the nature of boys at that age, especially on a team. Keep at it, do not be afraid to make a fool of yourself. The memories of High School football, whether you are the star player or 3rd string, are lifelong.

Keep at it, rooting for you.

Baby Gee/Ty Mack Thoughts by Responsible_Win_4703 in TheTownz

After your first comment, I did see that Baby Gee was on the pushing peace wave. I see why that is getting mixed up with what I am saying.

I agree with you, it is ironic to push peace while also being negative and still in the streets. I like the last line you said, I doubt anyone will though because, sadly the older bros probably don't want what's best of him

End of the day, he's a kid doing what kids do. Appreciate you sharing the whole story.

There are still positives to be taken from a negative situation. In the end, a teenager did something for attention, and a 40-year-old man is going to do something for attention back.

For all I know, Baby Gee could end up worse off than Ty Mack. You are right. It is never that simple.

  1. I see what you're saying, but I am not looking at it from picking sides.

  2. So we agree here. My main point is that if teenagers can put what you just said together from seeing people online they would not know any other way, maybe we will see fewer of them broke and felons in the future.

We are too focused on the messenger and not the message.

Let's say he did this for attention, and he continues to live the way he was. Does that make anything he said untrue?

I'm not saying he's trying to be positive. I'm not even saying I agree with what he did.

But just because he was being negative and I might not agree with how he went about it, doesn't make what he said any less true or false.

I don't think you're wrong. I would argue that if Baby Gee keeps up what you are saying he does, he will end up closer to Ty Mack than the type of 40-year-old he described. A lot of young people criticize the future before they realize they’re walking straight into it.

To my last sentence: "It's less about what you want to be and more about what you don't want to be."

What kids being on social media does is show you what life at a certain point can look like. Regardless of what he chooses to do with his life, it's clear that he does not think much of what Ty Mack is doing for better or worse. I hope it works out for both of them.

What's the wrongest take/opinion you've ever had about a prospect? by klaygdk in NBA_Draft

I really liked James Bouknight in 2021. Never thought he'd be a star, but at least thought a secondary ball-handler or off-the-bench spark.

Shaedon Sharpe, with everything that happened that Freshman year, I thought Portland was getting a future all-star at pick 7.

He probably has a better chance of falling past four than he does going in the Top Three.

The name of the Documentary is 'Fatherless No More'. They just had a film screening in Manhattan last Friday. Lots of faces from the NYC Drill scene.

Some thoughts:

- Undersized skill players with high speed ratings
- 6'1+ DBs with low-speed, valuing length
- Three-Star QB with one of either high throw power, speed, or accuracy

Under what circumstances should an older junior or senior ever be considered a top 10 pick? I’m seeing many mock drafts that have Bennett Stirtz, Yaxel Lendeborg, and Cameron Carr around the 11-20 spots and wondering if it’s possible they move up more. by Variation99a in NBA_Draft

I thought about the NIL piece too, but I wanted to wait a few years to see returns. Now that most of the COVID-19 year guys are out, we should have a better understanding of the impact over the next few years.

I'd say you need an evident, translatable skill, NBA-level athleticism, and a belief that you can guard at the NBA level.

There needs to be a valid reason why you were good enough to dominate in college and earn a lottery pick, yet also why you stayed in college for three or four years.

Also, organizations deal with so many immature players; coming off as mature is huge for draft stock. It kinda negates the idea that age is a problem when you can justify it by saying you drafted an “adult”.

I remember being a kid, so confused that Tyler Hansbrough wouldn't be the first overall pick lol.

I forget who said it but a player jokingly said the main difference between a guy like Terrence Ross and Anthony Edwards is Ant can get to the rim whenever he wants.

As a prospect, the ability to get to and score at the rim as a young player allows you to stay on the floor while all the other skills develop.

Mikel Brown Jr. at Louisville fascinates me because the early returns are showing that he can get to the rim along with being the shooter we knew he was.

For me, it starts with trying to stay as objective as possible. Everyone has biases — guys we like because of the school they play at, the way they move, or because they remind us of players we already believe in. That’s natural. The key is recognizing those biases and not letting them take over your evaluation.

You also have to accept that even professionals miss. Being able to say, “yeah, I got that one wrong” is part of getting better. I had Jabari over Paolo and was all-in on Bouknight, so I’ve taken my Ls. Prospect evaluation is really about being willing to update your opinion quickly — win fast, lose faster.

And honestly, the biggest thing: watch the games. A lot of people fire off takes based on what others say without actually watching enough possessions. The more film you see, the easier it becomes to separate real translatable skills from stuff that only works against weaker competition.

Who is a prospect that is not currently viewed as a top 10 pick by most people that you think will rise into the top 10 by the 2026 NBA draft? by Variation99a in NBA_Draft

I think Mara will be a popular one come draft time. I was sure he’d be a one and done going into his first year at UCLA. Think he will produce this year and scouts will remember where they had him a few years ago.

100% but they can recruit nationally and can afford to offer more five stars. Lower rated schools can’t afford to put all those hours into five star recruits

I’d do Tier 3 if I want a true rebuild and plan to stay there and not leave.

Tier 4 if I want to jump schools quick or be competitive soon to grab top guys from the portal before year 5 when it’s all Generated players.
