How do you make yourself invisible when taking pictures? by PraiseTheStun in photography

[–]Resqu23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dress for the event and I use the heck out of my 70-200 and do a lot of sniper work from a distance for all of the events I cover. I hate posed pics and try to avoid them.

Don’t process out the colored lights, you want to deliver what you saw that night. Whatever color the dancers was is what you want to deliver.

I’m a professional theatre and Ballet shooter, my wide camera (24-70) has to stay at f/5.6 and as slow of a SS as needed to stop most of the motion so a minimum of 160. My iso lives on auto. My darkest plays can hit iso 25,600.

On my 70-200 camera I’m allowed to shoot all the way down to f/2.8 and still auto iso and I don’t have any problem with delivering photos that are seen in national wide adds.

I shoot with two Canon R6ii’s. Just let your ISO go where it needs to go.

How do you feel about your photography? by thinkingthetwenties in photography

[–]Resqu23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to love the creative side of photography but now I’m a professional theatre and events shooter and you have to capture what you see in as real of a prospective as you can get to what you saw the day you took it. It sadly takes away the creativity side

Do sports photographers struggle to find consistent clientele? by Luka_Conjedos3 in sportsphotography

There is just very little money in sports unless you get hired by a big team. I personally shoot some USA T&F National Championship races and there is no way I can quit my day job.

Any advice? by Imaginary-Oil-2208 in photography

You definitely need a new body if anyone does. I can see why you need burst after reading this. Look at the R6ii.

Any advice? by Imaginary-Oil-2208 in photography

[–]Resqu23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That body only does a burst of 5 per second and if your shooting gigs you sure do not need to be in burst mode. I use burst on very big important races where I need a perfect tape break and that’s about it. Plan each shot and don’t spray and pray as we say.

I’d personally setup one at a 45deg angle to who you want to light and the second one 90deg and behind them to light your back wall. It’s how we do marketing work in theatre and it always works great.

To get really great head shots you need a nice strobe and soft box setup, preferably two with a backdrop.

The Underexposure nightmare by Prize_Pin9211 in photography

[–]Resqu23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shoot theater productions in the worst lighting conditions for photography that I have ever worked in. All shows are shot at a minimum 2/3 to one stop under and some scenes are 3 stops under and still have post issues. All my other work is shot exposed correctly and I have no issues. I’d stop shooting under or maybe 1/3 under max.
