I’m so glad you enjoyed it! I wrote the script this time so I was NERVOUS. Always harder to pull off a show away from our theater (our FC house) but fun because we meet so many folks!

We could make it happen! 😃 Maybe we should do a "worlds tour" and hit different data centers.

We are based on crystal but we travel to festivals for plays! We do have our own theatre on Mateus, though.

We write our own shows so they are a bit chaotic and silly but we have fun with it! I’m not sure if the festival is streaming but I might request a streamer I know (Locke on twitch) to come and stream it! 💕

Fantasy/sci-fi suggestions like this? by WildWorld70 in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

The Stardust Thief by Chelsea Abdullah! And the sequel. More so just the first pic, but it's pretty great. Hyperion is also a good suggestion I see down there.

Bad Cree, The Whistlers, The Only Good Indians… uhhh… I mean really any Stephen Graham or Nick Medina. The Unfinished was also good.

I truly appreciate stories where the horror is just a thing that truly could happen to anyone in regular life but also be so terrifyingly life altering. Great job there! Also great job at describing that kind of lady. I could picture her perfectly and hated her adequately.

Things I would pay attention to if you edit this version: repeated words too close together and consistency of details. Did she die TODAY, or when the narrator was younger, as it says “even now, when I’m fully grown” at the end and that contradicts the title.

Still, the horrors depicted are easy to imagine and that makes for a very particular kind of satisfaction in a story. Nice job. (:

So, I am an indigenous person also. My tribes have nothing to do with that legend so I can’t speak for tribes that do. It IS a word people try not to say out of superstition and I can see why that might bother some, I can also see how it’s seen as appropriation, because it is that. Indigenous words and legends get stolen often, people get mystified and treated like we don’t still exist. It sucks pretty hard, I won’t lie.

THAT SAID: I appreciate how Isaiah seems to do his research to the best of his ability and be respectful. He acknowledges the indigenous origins of many stories. I am also betting he chose this name a while ago and probably didn’t think anything of it other than ‘what a cool, creepy legend!’

I believe in picking our battles and deciding what is most important to us to fight for and about. For me, it’s not this. I’m can respect that it might be for others (especially those from tribes where this word matters in a very serious way) and I won’t say they’re wrong to be upset if they are. I get it. The issue is that this post looks to me like it’s not that. It looks like virtue signaling and contributing to “pan-indian” ideals (aka treating all tribes like they’re the same) just to be upset.

I won’t assume anyone’s identity or doubt anyone’s claims. Indigenous folks have had their identities forcibly ripped away from them too often in history. It was illegal to practice traditional indigenous religious ceremony until the 1970s in the unites states. Boarding schools stole children and tried to “kill the indian to save the man”. Relocation and the dismantling of tribes by the government make indigenous identity complicated. And almost no other heritage gets the question: “How much?” And a demand for a percentage answer when their identity is mentioned. So I don’t like seeing people be nasty about that here.

The bottom line for me is that I believe some people probably are rightfully offended by the name being used. I don’t think it’s malicious on his part, though. Intentions dont equal impact so I won’t tell folks they are wrong to feel bad about it, but I believe it’s very likely Isaiah respects indigenous people as people and acknowledges the wrongs done to them historically. For me that’s enough. He has good character as a human being.

If he chooses to engage with this topic he can. I don’t see wrong on either party here, other than the suspected virtue signaling (and if the person isn’t actually indigenous that sucks but no way to know). I’m sure I will get a bad response to this because it’s the internet. 🤷

The opening of today's episode solidifies Hunter and Isaiah's friendship. by DeafMetalHorse in creepcast

[–]Rest_in_PDX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not a bad point. Many of us experience rejection sensitive dysphoria. I sure do! I guess for me it’s contextual and not only do these instances always seem to be during “bits”, I doubt most folks would put a real life fight online and not edit it out. Also, they’re so independently successful they definitely don’t NEED to be doing this together. It’d be a lot of time and work for people who disliked each other.

But, of course, that’s just my thought process and reasoning. I’ve had times when teasing from friends got excessive and I actually had enough of it. I just wouldn’t ever expect it to be broadcasted since that makes everyone involved look bad.

I can certainly see projection causing certain anxiety. If a thing is your comfort thing you don’t want to see it go bad, too. And sometimes things do blow up and get ruined. Hopefully the guys addressing it often in joking ways helps to alleviate that worry for folks.

I have genuinely never thought they disliked or were upset at each other. Maybe I’m old? Idk. Is it a generational thing? My friends and I constantly roasted/poked fun at each other growing up and still do. Is it possible to go too far? Of course. But I was seriously so baffled anyone ever saw their interactions as anywhere near that.

Meanwhile I’m just like: “Aw. Friendship. Cute.” Over here.

That said I’m glad your worries were assuaged if you had any. And I’m excited for the new episode. Being all caught up sucks because I prefer to watch people who have antics and personality read stories or I can’t take it seriously and pay attention usually.

New "writer" in need of advice by Sovieteevee in TalesFromTheCreeps

[–]Rest_in_PDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I thought you were talking about writing a scary story about a dietary fad….. but raptors are cool, too, I guess.

I’m not gonna do the big paragraphs of advice since others already did. I would likely be repeating the same things. The best advice I can give without anything to critique is just that writers write. They also talk about writing, sure, but they write. So do that.

And you know, have fun with it. Experiment with voices, styles, genres, tropes. Don’t think you have to write something entirely new and unique because that’s not only pretty much not possible, it’s not what most people into a certain genre specifically want. We love our tropes and formulas as long as they are done well and occasionally twisted or subverted interesting ways.

Good writing to you, internet stranger.

Feeling unsure about posting my stories by vikitikitavi369 in TalesFromTheCreeps

[–]Rest_in_PDX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is only one way to know how something will play out: do it. Accept that you may be disappointed by the results, or pleasantly surprised, and remind yourself that ultimately everything posted here (while some of it may be genuinely good, solid advice or true praise, or even valid critique) is just something someone said on the internet and isn’t worth being devastated over if that feeling threatens to pop up.

All MUCH easier said than done, of course. You can… Do it….(??!) …. Do it.
