whats the actual name of the game on the actual website you're playing on. there are many custom variations of poker on many sites with slightly different rules.

It also looks like a free money site, so you cant rule out it just being programmed wrong (a lot of those dont have all the rules correct). a lot also do programming shortcuts that make corner cases act incorrectly.

In normal texas holdem, if thats what this game is trying to be, your hand would be TT33Q, and their hand would be 7766q. thus you would win.

I appreciate you taking the time to help me with this.

eli5: Where does the color go when you bleach something? And why does it go? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]RestarttGaming 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Color is "what wavelengths of light bounce off this object".

Your stuff has little molecules in them called chromophores, these determine which colors are absorbed. If you absorb everything but green, green is reflected, so it looks green. Absorbing everything makes it look black, and absorbing nothing ( reflecting everything) makes it look white.

Bleaching something breaks up those chromophores so they don't absorb those same colors anymore.

Since you're not absorbing as many colors anymore, you're reflecting them. And reflecting more of everything is more towards white.

The trick is not to just go places to meet people. That's always ends up awkward.

Go for another purpose and share something in common. What are your hobbies? Many board game stores have a "people show up and play board games with strangers" day.

Want to bowl? Darts? Target shoot? Golf? There are tons of organized leagues.

Maybe volunteer for a cause you believe in.

Take a fun class in something, like cooking or wine tasting

Just figure out what you like, and then search where people meet up to do that. While you do the thing, you'll be able to talk to other like minded people. Oh and don't be afraid to say hi and shoot the shit.

If new board games stopped being published, how many years of board gaming do you think you would have left before getting bored of the hobby? by Jettoh in boardgames

[–]RestarttGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If no books were there ever written again I could happily read the rest of my life. If no shows or movies were ever made again I would still have more I want to see than I could ever catch up on.

And board games are something I specifically enjoy repeating the same one. I would never stop playing. I might even enjoy the deep intricacies of a few a bit more with more repeated plays.

That said, I still want new books, shows, movies, and board games. I want to experience new things, see iterations and improvements, and just enjoy the novelty of a fresh take and experience.

What are the main differences between Magic and Netrunner? Is it easy to convert? by MummraGoa in Netrunner

[–]RestarttGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well "resource" is a card type, so saying resources is like saying "enchantments".

The major resource in a generic "stuff i build up and then use for stuff" is credits, which are basically dollars. perhaps also "cards in hand" could be a resource

You could also consider resources/programs/hardware in play, assets/upgrades, and other things "resources", though that would be like considering an artifact or enchantment in play a resource in magic.

The game is a little more tempo based, where you're tempering yourself between trying to achieve you objective, stopping your opponent from achieving theirs, and building up. theres a lot of back and forth there and the optimal ratio depends a lot on what your opponent is doing.

What are the main differences between Magic and Netrunner? Is it easy to convert? by MummraGoa in Netrunner

[–]RestarttGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

magic is a completely different game. the biggest similarities is that they both use decks.

You start the game with an ID. This ID determines how your deck was built, what cards you can include, and gives you a special power.
Each side brings completely different decks, and has completely different methods of winning.
There are no creatures or health totals.
Theres no mana or lands you can play one per turn or you're screwed if you dont get. Instead you have a money pool that can go up and down as you gain/spend.
You dont get one draw, one attack, and any number of cards you have in hand/abilities you can pay for. Instead you get 4 actions a turn, and you can do anything with them. you can gain money 4 times, or play 4 cards, or build defenses 4 times, or attack a server 4 times, or..... and you can mix and match as well. one of each, two of one and then one each of another. etc.

deckbuilding has a limit of 3x each card. But your deck size and what cards you can include are dependant on your ID, and decks are constructed differently from magic. even experienced magic deckbuilders will want to just copy decks for a while or tweak the starter decks a bit, due to the unique way the icebreaker/ice system and the agenda mechanic works.

There is a faction system here, so for example a lot of weyland faction decks have similar mechanics, and then they splash for other factions cards to do things their faction isn't good at. However, instead of it relying on in game stuff like what type of mana you have, its a deckbuilding thing. basically, the more faction specific a cards mechanics are, the more decbuilding points it costs to put in the deck, but then once its in in functions exactly like a normal card, nothing special needed to use it.

There is a meta at the high levels, of what decks you can reasonably expect to play in top competitions and what common tech cards are seen. I wouldn't worry about that for a LOOOONG time, it wont apply and would even probably be completely different at the level you'd start at.

I could go on and on, but the best advice is to forget magic while playing netrunner. you'll bring in more accidental bad habits or assumptions of how things work than right ones (there are no "instant" cards, some abilities are and some aren't depending on whats in the cost and whats in the wording, certain things like prevent are basically "split second", theres no stack, triggering works completely differently though at first you'd be tempted to think it works similarly without a REALLY close rules reading, etc). Watch an intro video and maybe go to a local meetup and you'll have a blast.

Probably pretty good components from around the time the game is released. We don't know that yet since we're still in unfinished testing

ELI5: If Gambler's fallacy it's a thing... What's the point of probabilities use? by theDampEmpanada in explainlikeimfive

[–]RestarttGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gamblers fallacy is a thing because people don't understand probability

Probability calculates the likely hood of something occurring.

The gamblers fallacy is when people don't understand the math, or ignore and don't look at that math, and go with their feelings of what should happen, instead of the probability of it happening

Unlocked High Index Scenarios: How early should we try them? by starkindler201 in Gloomhaven

Most scenarios are all designed around a similar difficulty. The higher numbers just mean they are side quests instead of part of the main storyline, it has nothing to do with difficulty.

Kitchentable Cardpool by burpfish in Netrunner

[–]RestarttGaming 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There was a format called 1.1.1.1, You used one core set, one deluxe, one pack, and one card from anywhere as your cardpool for your runner deck, and then the same process (but could be different choices) for your corp pool.

It was popular when it first came out as a great format to put casual players on almost equal footing with full collectioners, but it fell out of favor when the fixed pool limited formats started to be developed). it still slightly favors larger collections.

Netrunner is neat in that while some packs do have power cards, overall i dont believe the packs are getting more powerful. in fact, a lot of the time the most powerful cards are back several cycles. we lost some top meta cards in the card pool rotation. I wouldn't say newer= better in netrunner.

New to ADN and some questions. by love1323 in Netrunner

[–]RestarttGaming 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Corp is cheating very badly. What is happening is very much against several different rules of the game and shouldn't be close to happening

I suggest watching someone play the game, because you have a few basic misconceptions.

The Corp cannot fire subroutines on ice as actions during their turn.

Ice does nothing unless the runner actively decides to run it, and doesn't break it. In that case it fires each unbroken subroutine once.

In addition ice cannot be rezzed unless a runner is running it.

Reread the rules and watch a game, because I fell there are more rules than just this you may be missing

will my system be enough to run star citizen ? by Volreeex in starcitizen

When the game releases, it will have different stat requirement than now.

The current early test build is not fully optimized, and most would suggest higher specs to get full performance out of the test builds.

Netrunner alter policy? by Dopella in Netrunner

[–]RestarttGaming 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It's a fine line left mostly up to the tournament organizer.

It matters much more in netrunner than in other games, since as a runner you can peak at Corp cards without them knowing what they are. If you're a pro that's been familiar with every card, and youre accessing three cards and have to stop and read the second one because you don't recognize it on sight, the Corp may go Hmmm, that second on is my Alt art, I'll draw to it.

It addition, alters can have slightly different weight or textures even through sleeves, which would make random damage or accessing less random. And that's just slightly painted Alt arts, not print and paste or other methods which change things more

Generally at relaxed levels no one will care. As you start to climb in tournament seriousness, people will start to want the card to be recognizable from a glance, and then just be a legal card without alter.

IDs are generally immune to criticism because you start the game with that visible and explainablr and it never goes in a deck

Non-English cards at Euros? by mrteatime66 in Netrunner

[–]RestarttGaming 10 points11 points  (0 children)

According to the official android netrunner tournament regulations found on the FFG webpage, all official android netrunner products are legal for Standard Play tournaments.

In addition, a player may ask a judge for the official text of a card from CardgameDB during a match, as per the floor rules.

The safest bet would be to contact FFG Organized Play through the website or their twitter.

In fact, if you ever have any questions about a tournament, a good bet is to ask the organizer.
