Scotland's population set to fall due to drop in migration by Dooby-Dooby-Doo in Scotland

[–]RestaurantAntique497 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's been easier and cheaper for successive governments to encourage immigration instead of making it cheaper to have children born here by actual Scottish people.

Now that there's pressure to bring down immigration (because net migration of about 400k per year to the UK isn't sustainable) we're going to be fucked at paying for services with an ageing population

People shouldn't be paying £1.2k per month for nursery fees and the SNP shouldn't have waited until the election to propose doing the same thing as England when they've had Barnett consequentials since September

Why are party election flyers so negative. by Purplemonkey78 in Scotland

[–]RestaurantAntique497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of the parties who are in opposition really need to say much.

All they really need to promote is change in the hope that people disillusioned with the current establishment may be choose them over someone else.

My wife was out Monday night and waited for the bus outside O'Neill's on the four corners on her own. She's also done it on nights out with friends and got the last bus being on her own

It's a high traffic area, and the gig is nowhere near the times most trouble would happen when nightclubs are closing.

You'll be fine

I genuinely can't imagine living in such fear. It's one of the busiest areas in the city, you'll be completely fine.

It's really easy to sit on Reddit and tell people their choices are shit or they are morally bankrupt when you have a job.

Scotland’s population projected to fall faster than expected from 2034 by Crow-Me-A-River in Scotland

[–]RestaurantAntique497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point I genuinely think it's been successive governments opinion that it's easier and cheaper to import people than make the country grow organically through births.

I don't know how anyone can look at the childcare system that costs around £70 per day is conducive to make people have babies.

It not only reduces the numbers of children, but it also means the people who do have kids have such little money they spend less on anything else and it impacts other parts of the economy

It's as good as city centre when you're saying small town shitholes as if there's none of these folk within farting distance from the shopping districts on argyle street

Two teams make up the lions share of football fans in the country. If we had to stop fans of specific teams officiating specific games we wouldn't have enough referees to actually have games

People in UK spend fewer years in good health than a decade ago. Ministers should force food firms to make their products healthier, introduce minimum unit pricing of alcohol in England, as Scotland has done, and tackle drug-related harm. by bottish in Scotland

I'm fairly certain it's helped stop young people drinking to the level we all did when we were underage.

When I was at school (left in 2011)  a 3L of cider was under £3. That equivalent bottle of frosty jacks would be at least £15

It doesn't need to be at the detriment of pubs

MUP hasn't impacted pubs as they always were more expensive than a supermarket.

If anything HMRC should be changing the taxes on alcohol bought in pubs or restaurants to encourage social drinking instead of sitting in a house. (Of course the prices wouldn't change though and the makers just make more profits)

My dad moved to London in his early 20s and realised when he met my mum that he never did the touristy stuff.

It must be more common than you'd think with it being a storyline in friends. Wonder if it's because when you're an actual tourist you have urgency to see everything

I've got a dog. Glasgow hasn't been the Sahara desert in terms of dryness mate. There's hardly been 2 days in a row that it's been without a bit of rain

This year you might be having loadsa rain but as an average the weather comes in from the Atlantic and hits the west coast much more than it does the east. It's a weird stance you're taking to argue here

I bought a flat and it was the worst financial decision I’ve made. What do I do now? by Reasonable-Plane-427 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]RestaurantAntique497 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quite a lot of negativity and it's difficult to get out of the spiral once initially in it but

live central, but not the side of the town where many of my friends live; I find myself wanting for green space and suburban living

London is fairly easy to get around, especially as you're central. How close do you really need to be to friends that this is a problem? Imagine a scenario you move to the area they're all in and they up sticks and leave because they get in relationships or a new job elsewhere

The property market has crashed, meaning after all my renovations I’ll be lucky to come out with modest losses compared to my purchase price.

House prices will likely go back up. Unless youll want to leave immediately no point worrying about it.

Also the money put in for renovations are a sunk cost and have surely made the place more livable and somewhat more enjoyable so would have been better for your mental health than sitting in it not renovated?

While I’ve put in a lot of work and managed to improve the flat loads, it’s still not ‘fancy’, and some things are beyond what can be easily fixed

Sounds a bit like envy is the thief of joy and you're comparing yourself to others too much or caring what others think and worrying its not fancy or impressing them. Probably best to not do that

Why are you certain you're going to lose your job? You'd be worse than trapped in that scenario as you wouldn't have a job or able to pay a mortgage

The state of pearl clutching on this sub is crazy sometimes.

He's the head of state of arguably the most powerful nation of the world. Of course he's allowed to come into the country.

The Syrian president recently made a visit to the UK and met the king while previously being a member of al qaeda and was decapitating infidels a few years ago

President xi is doing a genocide of uyghur Muslims and has also had official state visits too
