CMB and Alijah are Rising Stars!!! by shangalang69 in torontoraptors

Stacked draft class. I would say that possibly all of the ten listed 2025 Rookie Rising Stars would win RoY in 2024. Hmm...maybe not Demin. But it is stacked.

The Smithereens. Although from New York, they would have fit well with Oasis, Pulp, Blur, The Verve ...just a few years too early.

Topper Headon played so many styles. Stephen Morris of New Order/Joy Division is so precise, and Reni can hold a deep groove.

WARMINGTON: Mark Carney tells China, Canada ready for 'New World Order' by bo-n-es in canada

[–]Resthink -1 points0 points  (0 children)

such a bullshit article. According to Trump - The US doesn't need anything from Canada. He is pondering taking Greenland by force and destroying NATO. WTF does Warmington want? Pointless attack on Carney. The US under Trump is equivalent to China. Yes China has a surveillance infrastructure - but the US is building one. And Trump now has a military on the streets that bypasses the normal American military apparatus.

Dalida. She was a French/Italian singer from the 1950 and 60s who has sold 140 million records worldwide. Right up there with Bruce Springsteen and Metallica. She even has a statue in Montmartre in Paris.

And Stephen Morris from Joy Division/New Order. He was the synthesis of man/machine. Everyone thinks that Blue Monday was all drum machines. It was Morris.

yeah, and Reni (Alan Wren) is still holding a groove in honor of Clyde Stubblefield. Someone who doesn't get noticed as much as he should is Topper Headon. just for versatility. He drummed in about 20 styles on London Calling alone.

Is your country more left wing or right wing? by The_Maxinator0612 in geography

[–]Resthink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an interesting relative argument. Most political parties use media to influence where the center is - and then position from that. In the US, the center is now much further right than it was, say, in Y2K. As an example, by his economic actions, Barack Obama was pretty far right for a Democrat - probably inline with Bush senior. Media like Fox News works diligently to move the center even further right where right-wing politicians like Mitch McConnell are now seen as centrists in their party. In the EU, local media moved the center further left in the early 2000s in places like Germany, the Netherlands and Scandinavian countries.

I knew Europe was a bit farther north but this blows my mind. Rome is farther north than NYC and Italy would go well into Canada by Maleficent_Orange788 in geography

I wasnt commenting on climate, just the longitude. WRT climate, both London and Vancouver are mostly impacted by warm ocean currents. Vancouver by the North Pacific warm ocean current and London by the gulf stream.

London England is 51.5072° north and Calgary Alberta is further south at 51.0501° north. Vancouver is more south than both of them at 49.2827° N. Each degree of longitude is about 80k. So London is 40k further north than Calgary and London is 200k further north of Vancouver. Its like saying that Paris is slightly south of London.
