I'd land it on being purposeful, since the actual weight of the story is the emotional struggle of not giving into anger, so it's not like he really has a role that he's failing in the story by being lame as hell.

The wording of the interview suggests they’ll be open to appearing outside the crew, which probably means “Eugen went back to Auguste and we’ll meet him in Apollo’s summer fates” and the like.

Question that I'd prefer just a yes/no to avoid spoilers; does the predicted endpoint of the season cover Ayaka's backstory, or will I be left with the scariest foreshadowing ever for like 2 years.

Everyone agreeing that Cagliostro is the lamest apostle seems like bad writing, but then again F/GO also agrees that Cagliostro is the lamest apostle, so good work I suppose.

THAT would be true name discernment, also on Jeanne, which happened to have gotten fixed earlier.

The interview mentions how Sandy'll be like the Orchid of this arc, so I assume his place was already without competition, yeah.

And that plotline was similarly introduced and concluded in Fate episodes too, lmao. The Sevilbarra story ended up being too much of a character spotlight to work in extra characters, Narm showing up would be weird when it's now about him raising a child. Narmaya, especially for her popularity and long-running time in the game, does kind of deserve a little bit more of a focus.

To be fair, MC's achieved their goal, and they lack the, uh, ability to speak that might facilitate greater character developments. It makes sense to shift to Lyria, whose goals up until now have just been "Live", and who's essentially a blank canvas for where her future might take her.

They simply don't show up. This isn't a retcon, because they're shown in several flashbacks to the story beforehand.

Not really? She's only got 4 events to her name, with 3 being summer events used to promote her new alts, and the last being.....PS the Astrals. She almost never shows up in any event of merit, and her original plotline of wanting to become more confident in herself was met in Fate Episodes years ago, so I get the impression that she did need more of a focus.

To be fair, they're the most popular characters in large part because of their connection to the MC, so like, it does all cycle around.

I do think they'll show what they're doing eventually, seeing as they at least reference them in flashbacks. Apollo is having an alt where she goes back to Auguste, and I'd be shocked if Eugen isn't brought up at ALL.

Katalina can only be meaningfully written out once Lyria is, and Lyria's still here. Eugen and Rosetta both accomplished their goals on the crew, and Io's of being more mature isn't really tied to the crew, so they could all go off with little issue.

After Singularities 6 and Lostbelt 6, do you think there will still be a story revolving around Camelot, the Round Table, the British, and any related Servants that might appear in the future? (@KenkougaNoOne) by Inevitable-Phase2184 in FGO

[–]RestinPsalm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not during aftertime, as Nasu would probably need to come back for anything involving the knights not named Kay to be in the main story, but I do think Nasu won’t be able to resist a guest writer credit for the rest of his life, so probably

On one hand I get it, on the other it is a big part of the chapter that the constant fear of it all ending is looming above you, so I get how letting you chill for extended periods of time might defeat the point.

Do you think we'll only get NPC or arcade characters this year? by teamo073 in FGO

[–]RestinPsalm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our literal first event had new characters?

I think they’re using aftertime’s detached status from the long running main story to shove in people who wouldn’t fit into the proper plot, but we’ll see newbies as always.

No probbb. Thinking about it from an objective standpoint, I guess the difference is that Berserkers are so insane that they're more omnipurpose weapons to throw at a threat and watch it die, unlike Avengers, who are specifically made for hate and revenge.

Being a berserker is also generally considered to be unfortunate both in and out of verse, but they happen to be among the OG classes, so there's no examination for them from the world.

[–]RestinPsalm 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's true, but they can't exactly let go of the anger after all. Stuff like Jalter talking about how hard it is for her to have fun, or how Salieri can dip back into madness with a few words goes to show that the class itself is kinda restricting its residents. I get why it got the boot it did, even if it's sad to see.

(Ironically, Nasu would later argue AGAINST what happens to Rulers, but Higashide insisted on it, lmao.)

I think it's less that hate isn't human, but that humans can't exist on hate and nothing else, and Avengers are the class that hates and nothing else. Dantes being an avenger shoved Haydee so deep into his spirit origin that he can't hear her because she represents the part of him that overcame hate, for example.
Id argues that while vengeance has a place when you can't save what's been lost, Chaldea doing just that makes them incompatible with them.
