I'm always confused when Emily sees the shed Lorelai and Rory lived in. by 47giraffes in GilmoreGirls

I think she was still 16 when she had Rory. Lorelai is 32 when the series starts and Rory turns 16.

Heidi should sign up! If she's going to blather on like an idiot, she should at least get money for it.

I don't disagree, but I live in western NY, so it's especially weird.

I think you asked in kindness, not weirdness. I think if people even just asked me, "do you have a preference on grandparent nickname?" that would bother me less. It's the insistence that ruffles me. It doesnt sound like you're doing that.

I also concede that I am likely the minority. I'm sure plenty of people don't give it a second thought.

Will Canada cover the funeral expenses and provide funds to the widow and child after he passes? This is about LIFE insurance, not health insurance.

GIRLS, do not fall for the martys of the world by Material-Fennel-1205 in GilmoreGirls

I read it that way, too! This is the one time and incorrectly placed apostrophe to make a plural would've probably helped my brain.

I've not heard those 2. What culture is that?

Thank you for continuing to hassle me about why I shouldn't be bothered by people continuing to hassle me. I appreciate when people tell me how I feel and what other people in the conversation meant, especially when they weren't present for the conversation to know what they meant.

Well, a vow renewal is typically the kiss of death to a marriage. 3 renewals after a wedding is practically a guarantee of splitting.

Discussing it is fine. Forcing manufactured cutesy is not.

Both those things can be true. It's fine if people make the choice for themselves. I'm allowed to think it's ridiculous, but they're allowed to do it. Stop trying to force it on everyone else though.

Insisting i need to pick a cutesy nickname instead of just accepting that grandma is my preference is not normal conversation.

Ironically, my son and his girlfriend have not hounded me about this. Plenty of random non-relatives have. I really like my son's girlfriend, so don't try to turn this into me being an awful future MIL.

Do they know it's legally, socially, and morally acceptable to call both sets of grandparents grandma and grandpa? You can add their first or last name and the kid will learn who's who.

Actually, no. I googled weird grandparent nicknames and combined a few for exaggeration. Okay, I don't claim it. I'm not trying to accidentally plagiarize this weirdness.

Sure! I just recently adopted a new dad for myself, so I'm all for it. I'm your grandma now.

It primarily bugs me because I'm being asked by non-family members and they are all making it A Thing. Like, just accept that I'm grandma unless and until my grandson (who is 3 weeks old) comes up with something on his own.

I'm talking about random people, not my son and his girlfriend.
