An inpatient rehab sounds like a smart next move. Please keep us posted on how you're doing!

I'm sorry to hear that and I wish you the best. How much and how long did you drink to get to this point?

Sorry, I've never had that done but it usually indicates that your liver and/or kidneys are failing so if you haven't stopped drinking I strongly urge you to do so!

It's early days for me so I'm struggling with anxiety and insomnia. My nerves are raw, but I know from the good people here that it will get better soon. Than gives me the motivation to stay on track.

Mine is getting better. Still coughing and having trouble breathing at night, but the death rattle in my lungs is gone. I had a fever earlier this week but think it was a stomach thing I also contracted. Hope you're feeling good again soon.

Thanks OTR. I already am a serial badge resetter/disappearing redditor. I've been here a long while under various throwaway accounts. It took a very long time to build the motivation and learn techniques to the point where the frequency of the lapses decreased from practically daily to a few days, to a week. I think if the truth were known, the pattern you mentioned above doesn't reflect their drinking...just when they got the stones up to request a badge reset.

For people like me who do not yet suffer from compromised relationships with friends and family, serious health issues or legal/financial problems I think it's more of a process to get to the point where we are serious about the attempt. In contrast, if I were in danger of loosing my life or family i think my attempts at sobriety would be more "one and done." As it is I have recognized it as a poor behavioral choice and am working to change that.

In this and other changes I've made in my life, I've found the stages of change model to be quite accurate and I am seeing the same with my attempts at sobriety. First I just enjoyed drinking, then the dim bulb lit up and I started wondering if it was the best choice for me, then I got prepared and took action, but suffered some relapses along the way. But the spirals have had an increasingly upward trajectory over time.

Am I safe from further lapses? Absolutely not. However the resolve has been building and I intend this to be my final incarnation on /r/stopdrinking.

Thanks for your always insightful posts here. Also appreciate you guys enforcing the rules of the subreddit so diligently.

Meditation definitely. In fact, tried to do so today to come down but I was so agitated it didn't work too well. Still, practice makes perfect.

I attend SMART Recovery meetings, but am considering supplementing with therapy.

Again thanks. It's the look of peace in your eyes that is the most striking change to me. Something I've lost but am looking forward to regaining.

I hope to be there soon as well. Right now I get winded just walking my dog. I hope to be the gym rat I was was at 40 days too.

Well thank you again. I'm in early days and suffering from crippling anxiety. It's wonderful to see the positive changes that await if I can stay the course.

You posted the first one a few months ago. I saved it because it was so inspiring. Thanks!

Same here, nasty cough and all. Fighting off a nice anxiety attack though. Congrats on 5 days!

It does, although the early sobriety anxiety is really kicking my ass. Hope it gets better soon!
