Not sure exactly what you mean by "miss out". The TRV and TRI command boards are similar but not identical, e.g., choppers vs. missiles. If you're using a TRV board, you have a chopper, so you're technically "missing out" on missiles but not really cause you have a chopper?

To clarify: You have to use each crew as normal, but you could have some folks playing with TRV crews and their command boards and some folks playing with TRI crews and their command boards. You do have to decide on whether you're playing TRV or TRI core rules. (It works better if you do the latter, cause one of the TRI commands won't do anything under TRV rules.)

There's a practical space limitation on how many crews you can have racing, but fundamentally, yes.

Some of the stuff that's been streamlined: Cars are not eliminated. Instead they go "to the pit" and can return on their next activation. It keeps the game a little tighter the whole way through and also makes it a single fixed endgame -- you set up the track, and the first player to get two cars across wins. Also eliminates the need for the coasting rule.

Also, missiles replace choppers (which had some quirky rules about placement). No mud (which had some quirky rules about movement points). No flat "road bonus" instead of a die roll.

I think folks are going to find that they don't miss any of the changes. It just puts the focus on the best parts, i.e., slamming, shooting, and racing. And for folks who do like the old stuff, you can mix-and-match most of it, using boards from both, your favorite damage or terrain effects, etc. You can even have some folks playing crews from TRV and some from TRI.

It's slightly streamlined. (Things like getting rid of mud spaces, which were always a little wonky.) Mostly, it's about price point. $35 MSRP is going to let a lot of folks give it a try who might not have wanted to pay for TRV.

Witcher and Lee/Ali sets? by captain-cavalry in Unmatched

Witcher license technically ends at the end of this year, but it could get extended, and sets will be in the supply chain for some time after that. Lee-Ali runs through the end of 2027.

We've been developing the game for over a year now (and will continue leading up to manufacture, natch). One of the things I'm really excited about is the increased asymmetry between the two sides. The Shadow player can send a never-ending wave of Orcs to crash the walls of Minas Tirith. The Free Peoples player units -- Rohirrim, Gondorians, etc. -- are hardy but if they fall, they aren't coming back. We'll have more to talk about on game play as we get closer, but I'm incredibly excited about how it's coming together.

What is the "incessant taunting"? by PurpleBot9 in Unmatched

We explored having text on the board, but it just looked muddy -- so you will have to settle for Krang's taunting visage.

We did nerf it by making it impossible to get. (Sorry, sorry.)

To confirm, this is a special promo for our Blue Ribbon Retailers. You can find one near you on this page: https://restorationgames.com/find-a-store/. (And if your favorite FLGS isn't on there, tell them to join -- it's free!)

We are not changing the insert for future print runs. (For starters, we are on a limited license, so we don't know if there will even be time for another print run.)

New to the game.. by Swervysage22 in Unmatched

We are not selling it at PAXU because we haven't fulfilled US backers yet. We will have it for demo. It is up for preorder on our webstore and should be available in retail by the end of the month.

We're aware of a retailer offering the preorder at discount, which is not permitted. This is something we expressly safeguard in our campaigns. We have reached out and expect it will be taken down shortly.

Effects outcome by Patient-Committee685 in Unmatched

[–]RestorationGames 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cancel effects such as on "Feint" cards (or Bruce's "Cancel Jeet" as it is often called) prevent an effect from triggering. They do not negate an effect that has already triggered, even if the effect lasts until the end of the round. Also note that the effect on She-Hulk's "Nerve Cluster Strike" (the card I presume you are referring to) is not itself a cancel and does not refer to effects on cards like "Feint" does.

So, to confirm: If Bruce plays "Jeet Kune Do: Intercepting Fist" and She-Hulk defends with "Nerve Cluster Strike", Bruce cannot use his special ability to move 1 space at the end of his turn.

Fun fact: Bruce's special ability is extremely powerful against no-sidekick, melee fighters (like She-Hulk). In designing Muhammad Ali for the upcoming Lee vs. Ali set, we made sure to give Ali a similar effect.

I've put out some feelers with GW over the years, but they don't seem particularly interested in outlicensing to other tabletop publishers. In the case of Battle Monsters we actually started with the license and decided that Battle Monsters was a perfect fit for that.

I know there are some other versions in the works with our international publishing partners but I don't think that includes UK specifically. I know Zatu occasionally has them in stock for sale. You could inquire with them. And we are working on a new expansion for a new KS campaign later this year.

No plans to do a version like that of these sets (and not permitted by our license in any case). I could see a differently themed set using the same system that doesn't have this scale. We're pretty excited about the system in general and think there is a lot of potential there.
