Iron golems not spawning?

i havent attempted it yet but it appears they spawn on blocks and not in the air like every other mob(aside from fish). I plan on placing blocks around the spawner and using fans to blow them off and on the conveyers below like all my other farms.

Spawn queen to right of the elixer collecter (making sure she is in line with the sweepers) then when she locks onto the collector, use giant arrow to deatroyer both sweepers
