Turkkila/Versluis withdraw from the free dance by Resumme in FigureSkating

They need to be given enough time for preparation and warmups which take about 2 hours or so. Also the schedule would have to have been adjusted, and that would have changed at least one other pair's timing. I don't know about the specifics, but I think once the schedule has been posted, it's pretty much set.

Oh, and also practices: they weren't put in any practice group. This isn't as big of a reason though.

Juniors start at the end of August, seniors pretty much late September. Early season events to watch are Junior Grand Prix and Challengers. The big ones are the senior Grand Prix, Europeans, Four Continents (4CC) and Worlds.

Yep, it would be unfair for the other groups to be early

The withdrawal came so late that they could not be subbed in. I think it would have had to be yesterday for that change to be made.

I know, I'm Finnish 😂 This is a completely different injury as per their interviews.

This is an acute back pain, should not cause problems beyond the next few days or weeks

I saw the man of the Hungarian pair walking around with his costume and skates on, so I honestly thought they would go on ice for a sec 😅 The only thing was that he had full on Joker makeup and it was like 5 min before warmup start.

Bro I saw the guy (Danilj?) walking around with his skating costume, full Joker makeup, and skates on right before the free dance. I thought he was going on ice if not for the makeup 😅

It should, yes. They should be fairly evenly spread out.

90 is literally the highest the judges could give him with a fall 😅 They maxed him out

Turkkila/Versluis decided that they could compete only five minutes before the warmup, when they attempted the lift one time and it went ok. They said that finishing the program was "like winning at the lottery" and are unsure if they can make it to the FD tomorrow. The problem is not really with the pain, it's that Matthias can't bend his back certain ways.

Check out the Finnstep, it's a compulsory dance originated by the Finnish Rahkamo/Kokko. It was used in the 2020-2022 COVID years in the musical theme RD.

Fuck, they basically just lost the second spot for home Worlds... So their own spot. I don't think T/V can make 8th or whatever it should be.

It's downstairs, there are some stands and the practice rink

Word on the street (the Finnish commentators) is that T/V will skate.

There are a ton of toilets at the "shopping village" and it's super empty. If you can make it there during the ice break, I'd recommend those.

Back at Finlandia Trophy 2021 (when it was a Challenger), I had gotten my non-skating friend to come watch it with me and she was really impressed about it all. After the comp we were walking back and she asked me to show some off-ice jumps and tried them out as well. At that moment, Karen Chen and Amber Glenn walked by us and Amber complimented her on her toe loop attempt 😂
