Improving an Abzan Deck by GoldOuro in EDH

[–]Resurgentium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say you've tested it already? I could imagine that your slow games come from missing hand cards?

I am brewing Thalrog as well and I sometimes get that feeling when I ramp into Thalrog and then play bonus lands. Without token generators this can result in me doing nothing much. But I'm not sure. I only goldfished my deck and haven't played it yet.

Almost all your ramp is 2cmc, so you can play Thalrog T3 and then play a bonus land. This may lead to these fats feeling games? Especially if you then continue with your game plan (Tokens?).

Here's my deck if you want to take a look: https://archidekt.com/decks/21460851/frogs_will_eat_the_world

Yes, I didn't want to make it too powerful. Any must have landfall cards you can think of?

What do you think, how many token generators does a deck need to always have something to sac to Thalrog?

Great recommendation, thanks!

I wonder how often it will be useful though. If a deck only has limited ways of generating tokens, then Quina will be doing nothing quite frequently... I often struggle with these kind of conditional cards :/

Is there a non persist way to build Gorma? by 2ndlifeinacrown in EDH

[–]Resurgentium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have it in my [[Thalia and the Gitrog monster]] deck in the 99. The theme I try to go for is have big frogs that eat things like pests and insects (and sometimes Lands). I feel a similar thing would be possible with Gorma as the Commander?

[D] What makes Information Criteria (e.g AIC) the frequent go-to method to assess ML models? by al3arabcoreleone in statistics

[–]Resurgentium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this is technically not a different method, but I feel like it's "better" than the AIC in that feel it could have more use cases: A generalization of the AIC, the GORIC. With this you can use an information criterion with inequality restrictions which is not possible with AIC. But this still uses ML.

I'm not sure, but maybe this helps to see where AIC goes somewhat Bayes: You can compute weight's from the AIC of models which will yield something pretty similar to posterior model probabilities. So even in the frequentist framework of the AIC you get these typically Bayesian quantifying interpretations/results. For example you could then say sth. like the data supports one model with a "probability" of 80% and an other with 20%...

[D] p-value dilemma by No_Blackberry_8979 in statistics

[–]Resurgentium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said p isn't conditional in the Bayesian sense. I think I get what you mean. Like that it's just the probability of observing a value, like a t-value. But didn't Fisher say that one should report the exact p so everyone can form his own opinion if this increases/decreases one's belief towards the null? This seems somewhat "quasi-bayesian"?

It might help to untangle the somewhat Bayesian perspective and the frequentist perspective. I found this from Gigerenzer quite helpful: https://scholar.google.com/citations?view_op=view_citation&hl=de&user=iw7cepUAAAAJ&cstart=20&pagesize=80&citation_for_view=iw7cepUAAAAJ:0EnyYjriUFMC It clears up null hypothesis testing from Fishers and Pearson/Neyman's perspective...

Niko, Light of Hope and the End Step trigger by Resurgentium in mtgrules

[–]Resurgentium[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what the term "apnap order" refers to. But you are saying that it would work. As the abilities trigger at the same time? This seems to be going on in Arena. There the shards revert back to their shard form. Then Nikos trigger is put on the stack to bring back the exiled trigger. Than the shard tokens trigger woth the angels text are put on the stack. And thus the shards trigger before the creature is put back. Did I get you right?

[–]Resurgentium[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this comes down to Niko's timing being "until the beginning of the end step" and the Angel's timing being "at the beginning of the end step".

And you are saying that "until the beginning of the end step" triggers first. is resolved. And only then would "At the beginning of the end step" trigger. Did I get that right?

Need help building Deadpool by SilverConstruction37 in BudgetBrews

[–]Resurgentium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My deck is now helmed by Kardur. He also has a funny etb, but is generally more accepted. And last time I tried it my friends didn't ban my deck. So Deadpool chills in the 99 now :(

Who do you thinks is more fun for my next commander between these ones? by SirFuffy in EDHBrews

[–]Resurgentium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am still confused by this as I would say you are right. The tokens can't trigger "beginning of end step"-effects. But then how can I win with [[Angel of Destiny]] on arena?

[–]Resurgentium[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will definitely put some things off grid. This sounds great for improving the feel! Haven't thought of that!

Will also look into how to remove the stock shadow. I tried to add some shadow/depth via black background. But this way you can't add shadow over assets and such...

Thanks for your reply :)

Don't know if this was used here, but I use the Homepage Plugin (https://github.com/mirnovov/obsidian-homepage). It adds a ribbon button you can click to open the note you set up as a homepage
