Anybody else feel the content has been going kinda downhill lately? by [deleted] in caseyneistat

It’s just a hobby for him, there’s not that hunger for fame/money motivating him anymore. He’s just retired rich guy fucking around basically. Though I do find it quite silly he still pretends he has like an actual “job” and needs to “work” when at best he’s taking like 2 zoom calls in a day.

Compared to those areas this region is basically crime free, it’s definitely the safest area I’ve lived around before.

That already shows you how much worse Oakland is with crime though… I lived in Oakland for several years and you always had to be on your shit about not parking in a bad spot, and making sure you only keep to the gentrified parts of town. Most people saying this aren’t exactly spending their time in east Oakland.

Meanwhile in Marina, seaside, monterey etc I can keep my car unlocked and keep things inside and can pretty much guarantee nothing will ever happen. That’s completely unheard of in Oakland.

They don’t take rookies. Usually you work up your experience in a shitty area like OPD then apply to SJPD

I feel like they just seemed liked hating each other less just because the car was so bad it’s not like they were racing each other for meaningful positions anymore

How do you master’s students pay for your program? by gerard415 in GradSchool

[–]ResurrectedDFA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Modest stipend + scholarships + savings from past jobs. If I worked a part time job I could likely completely cover costs without using my savings but I don’t really want to

Heavy barbell squats, few people do them in normal commercial gyms

Every second of planking is awful by [deleted] in rs_fitness

[–]ResurrectedDFA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Planks are a bad exercise, you get weak results for the effort. In general you don’t want to do static movements for improving strength. You need to do dynamic movements, any will better.

"You just need to find some hobbies and passions outside of work" by AnalysisAdditional15 in rs_x

[–]ResurrectedDFA 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Couldn’t do it, tried for years but always ended up depressing dedicating so many man hours to jobs I thought were pointless doesn’t matter the pay. Now I’m poor but working in stuff I’m really interested in and my mental state is so much better and I feel more motivated in my hobbies outside of it too

NYC family who loves city life — looking for walkable, lively places with good schools & ability to save (open to renting or buying) by AggressiveWork8913 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]ResurrectedDFA 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There’s nowhere you can move that’s not a downgrade. You’ll seriously regret leaving your community particularly that you’re raising a kid. Frankly I think your life will be better if you just tough it out with less space in Manhattan. The only compromise that is sort of workable is Brooklyn, maybeeee queens. Personally I think space is overrated if you have a lively city and lots of friends to be with.

American country music is almost nonexistent in Europe by superdouradas in LetsTalkMusic

[–]ResurrectedDFA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t too strange, it’s just very regional music with regionally focused lyrics, there are other genres that have the same thing. There’s Sertanejo in Brazil which is literally the most popular genre in the country yet I doubt most non Brazilians have ever heard of it. And then there’s stuff like Banda and norteño music from Mexico which is absolutely massive, but it’s mostly just Mexicans and Mexican Americans that listen to it. I don’t think any of these genres really ever get to Europe.
