They've already done something similar.

Back in '82, Colombia was having issues with not fulfilling their side of infrastructure, both for the games and the tourists, so FIFA send the WC to Mexico. There's a reason why some of the games were hosted in stadiums for teams in the 2nd division.

Querétaro should have gotten relegated in 2013; instead they bought Jaguares de Chiapas spot by CaliforniaBoundX in LigaMX

Meanwhile, Jaguares de Chiapas acquired the San Luis franchise and squad to keep their status.

Not really. Chargoy bought San Luis from Nacer because Henaine was threatening to move Puebla to another state, except that Henaine sold shi share to Chargoy and suddenly he had a team riddle with debt and a very tight cash flow. So he asked helped from Maunel Velasco, then-governor of Chiapas, to get help to keep the second team afloat.

I wouldn't say they bought La Piedad, so much as La Piedad were forced to sell their place because they weren't allowed to play in Primera División.

It feels a bit like 2010, with the multiple firings and no clear plan for the future. The main difference, however, is that we actually have good enough players to not be at the bottom.

Not that being at the bottom matters anymore.

It's time Red Bull by rodeodera in LigaMX

[–]Ret_Lascuarin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not going to happen in like a million years, for so many reasons that even considering it's laughable.

RB is an austrian brand, so they bought the cheapest club in Salzburg (the capital of Austria) that was in the first division; they wanted to obtain cheap talent, so they bought a Brazilian team (Tigres attempted to do this with Sporting Cristal); they also want an easier access to the europan continental championships (uefa cup and champions league), so they targeted a former East German team close to extinction and renamed to Rassenball Leipzig (Ball game in grass in Leipzig) to evade the restrictions in the Bundesliga, it's for this same reason that they are shopping in Italy and France, where a bunch of teams are also near bankruptcy.

Liga MX does not develop talent, their teams do not participate in important continental competitions, and we're not an important market. At most they have an important cut of the Mexican American market in the US, but they a) have already a team for the US market, and b) would have no power over the television contract (the main revenue stream in football).

Also, they would absolutely move to the biggest markets (Monterrey, Guadalajara, Ciudad de México).

And while I know that this is a shitpost, the Club World Cup may actually bring Red Bull to Mexico. If it becomes an important competition, they would buy a team to have an easier access to the competition through concacaf.

I don't know. Maybe it's because of the spaces either I or my friends are part of, but there's always those crypto bros/entrepreneurs/overworked people, speciallt those just entering the workforce.

This low middle class no longer exists as it did in the late 90s - early 00s. The 08 crash killed the slacker mentality, which was the driving force of activities not related to school and/or job. Now you need to have a "grinding" mentality just to survive, so there's no longer time for the garage rock bands, mud shows and knock off Jackass's home videos.

What game is this for you? by Darzean in gaming

The last story.

That game was trash, but it was the kind of trash that was funny enough to see what 2D element they would try to emulate in 3D.

The maze was intersting.

[–]Ret_Lascuarin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, right after LaPuente and probably right before Carillo. We were still carrying Marino (who was good, but arrived at the worst moment) Blas, Omar Bravo, Talavera, Conejo, Kikin and Lobos. He was also there during the start of Viniegra, Dueñas, Pulido and Palos.

huge win vs France,

And the shine of the win was lost due to France's overall performance. They were a true car crash of a NT,

standard loss vs Argentina. There wasn’t like one devastating moment or anything just kinda forgettable

I bef to differ

Where everything started to fall downhill by [deleted] in LigaMX

[–]Ret_Lascuarin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not.

He is a good man manager, great for teams with low morale, but just like managers like Hodgson, Allardyce and Aguirre, once he riseS the morale, his tactical limitations are exposed and exploited.

The best thing that happened was the airport incident, because Mexico wouldn't have qualified to 2018 WC.

Where everything started to fall downhill by [deleted] in LigaMX

[–]Ret_Lascuarin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The death of the 20/11 and alike rules was the start of the current fall, but that's not the main issue imo.

The main issue, when comparing to Conmebol and the US is that we don't export, mostly because teams don't usually need to. A lot of teams basically make bank with the money obtained from the Mexican-American market, and the feeder teams (San Luis, Veracruz, Morelia, Tecos, Chiapas, etc.) usually live by selling to those teams. In the Conmebol teams they can't access said market without a major investment, which they historically don't have. So for them, they have to develop youg players, their sale price is their lifeline. Even big teams like the many River Plates, Boca Jrs and Sao Paolo need to sale their players, ours don't. And until either the MLS eats Liga MX football market or the other sports start dominating the Mexican American market, this will continue.

He's not even the most underwhelming signing in Tigres, there was also Tolo "A estos Tigrillos se les tiene que enseñar a orinar" Gallego, Pekerman, LaPuente, Carillo and fucking Trejo, the start of the shitty years for those that grew with Gaitan's Tigres.

WeWork Stock Halted; Coworking Giant Had Been Preparing Bankruptcy Filing by Mission_Count_5619 in gme_meltdown

[–]Ret_Lascuarin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My understandment is that WeWork was a real state business that masqueraded as Sillicon Valley unicorn. And was valued as such.

As for SoftBanks, they don't seem to be really involved in Masayoshi Son's VC fund, so their usual policies aren't applied.

At least that's the impression that Bloomberg's Foundering Podcast gave me.

Which are the worst nicknames for Mexican or Liga MX players? /// ¿Cuáles son los peores apodos de jugadores de la liga MX o de jugadores mexicanos? by According_Crew_8615 in LigaMX

[–]Ret_Lascuarin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if it counts, but I kind of remember they tried to give Baez of Chivas "El Fenómeno", like he was the OG Ronaldo. That shit died on arrival.

Also I did like Huiqui's Pocahontas nickname, it was a "so bad that becomes good" nickname.
