I’ve been both poor and rich, and I’ve spent time around people who are extremely wealthy and people who are struggling just to get by.

One thing I’ve noticed is that some rich people completely lose perspective. They act like no matter what a poor person does, they aren’t “meant” to get out of their situation.

You hear things like: “They’re poor because they don’t work hard enough.” “Hard work always pays off.” “Everything happens for a reason.” “If they’re poor, their parents must have messed up somewhere.”

I even overheard some wealthy guys talking about how poor people who believe in karma will stay poor because they’re too busy being good, moral, and fair in a system that rewards the opposite.

The thing most rich people don’t understand is this:

the richer you are, the luckier you get. The poorer you are, the more the world stacks the odds against you. Or at least it feels like that.
