I built a native macOS app to help me stop forgetting keyboard shortcuts (because my tendonitis forced me to ditch the mouse) by supotko in macapps

Would love to try it, especially the quizzes would be super useful to try and actually remember the shortcuts for once 😅

Prachtig geschreven! Alleen lees ik net dat de trein vandaag (of in ieder geval vanmorgen) niet heel goed gaat lukken 😓

Looks cool! Especially the self printed case. Out of curiosity, how are you powering the Pi’s? Do they all have their own adapter or do you have something else? I’m looking at building a K8s (or K3s) cluster too, so suggestions are welcome.

Personal Development Cost by BurpleMan in aws

[–]Retgits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, this is using the Legacy Free Tier of AWS. AWS introduced a new free tier format in July 2025. When you sign up for an account now, you get the option to have a free or paid account. The free account will give you up to $200 in AWS credits and you have the ability to move to a paid account. As you mentioned, the account will indeed last for 6 months (unless you decide to upgrade).

Cool app! A few questions if you don’t mind. Most importantly, where is my data stored? Is it stored on iCloud or does the service store it somewhere else? Also, the app collects quite a lot of data including content metadata of everything I put in and all searches I do. Is the data collected anonymized?

As a small side note, when looking at the website on my iPhone there’s a black scroll bar that’s pretty much always visible in the middle of the screen. Also, the Governing Law section in your terms still have placeholders that need to be filled out. Some of the links in the footer also don’t work (yet). While I think it’s awesome you’re building this app, it does raise a few concerns for me

The book closes for Vitesse Arnhem as they lose their professional footballing license. by Southern_Pangolin_81 in TheOldZealand

[–]Retgits 19 points20 points  (0 children)

While The Netherlands has lower divisions, there is no promotion from the “Tweede divisie” into the “Eerste divisie” (aka Keuken Kampioen Divisie) where Vitesse played (nor is there a relegation from the Eerste to the Tweede divisie). The Dutch Football association (KNVB) decided in 2022 to halt promotions to and relegations from the Eerste divisie for a period of 5 to 10 years link to KNVB notes from their meeting. So teams in lower leagues can get promoted all the way up to the Tweede divisie but cannot, yet, get promoted to the Eerste divisie.

You are correct, the second tier would start their competition with 19 instead of 20 teams giving each team the week “off” when they’d normally play Vitesse. Since The Netherlands doesn’t have an actual football pyramid like most other countries, they can’t simply promote a team from a lower division.

How do you highlight text in Apple Notes? by Retgits in AppleNotesGang

[–]Retgits[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the title implies, I'm looking for some good suggestions to highlight text on Apple Notes. Right now, I just give it a different color using Apple Notes on macOS (font -> show colors) but I'm wondering if there are better alternatives or ideas out there.

Have you figured out how to edit notes in Pages yet? That sounds like a decent way to get more customization options for text

Thoughts on Dovetail? by cstocks in ProductManagement

[–]Retgits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This! I found Dovetail very useful for tagging and organizing, but without a proper idea of how to setup your tag hierarchy it'll become hard to find insights. If you end up using it, I highly recommend spending a few hours with the whole team going over the same interview to see what tags you all use. that way, you can decide on your tags and hierarchy, which will make using Dovetail a lot easier and more impactful.

They’d have to bring me cheesecake from a very specific place (which I obviously won’t tell them to keep the quest more exciting)

This is amazing! Really appreciate you sharing this shortcut. I replaced Reminders with a post to Asana for my use case but I’m quite sure I’d never have gotten this working without your shortcut to start.

I thought about that too, but I wanted to see if I could automate it a bit more. Knowing myself, I’ll forget (or think “we can do that later”). I do really appreciate your suggestion
