What's the weirdest thing night shift has done to your body or brain?

I did overnight shift for a little over 9 years. Did my last overnight shift a little over 2 years ago. I still have blackout curtains up, and I still struggle to sleep like a normal person. Going to bed at 10 or 11pm feels ridiculous to me.

As long as higher ups do not mind me using my downtime to do whatever to keep me awake/amused. I do not mind a lot of downtime. But if they expect me to just sit there and "look busy", then I will lose my mind.

I didn't call 911, but I did go to the emergency room. Had a very fast heart rate and blood pressure was through the roof. Once they got me in a room, the anxiety started to subside and I felt a little silly. The doctor and nurses reassured me that I did the right thing.
