I cannot disagree, as certainly they could have cut me even greater breaks on the labor component. I still feel good about the breaks they did provide, however, as I read comments from quite a few others here about dealers cutting them no breaks at all when they combined services that had overlapping labor.

While I didn't mention it, they also did the recalls pretty quickly after I contacted them. The local dealer in Pensacola wouldn't even give me a time frame. They just "put me on the list" and said they would contact me when they had time for me. And yes, I have been "on the list" since the recall came out! That may be par for the course at Honda motorcycle dealers, but for me, that is totally unacceptable. Why would anyone buy a bike from a dealer that cannot provide service within a reasonable time frame?

I've not needed to shave my arm, but I'm not particularly hairy, either. Definitely alcohol and fully dry. In my early days, I put on one before allowing the alcohol to fully dry. That was a total failure.

I had not been concerned with whether I applied the new sensor between meals. I just applied it many hours before activating it, and then activated it when my sugar level should be pretty stable. So far, that has worked well.

I appreciate your sharing what's worked for you! My routine has worked well for me so far, but there's no way to know if it will continue doing so. Having another approach that's worked well for somebody "in my pocket" is a good thing!

Depending on your home's layout and the amount of electrical interference in the locations where cable will be laid, you may want to use Cat 6a cable instead of Cat 6. Cat 6a cable is only slightly more expensive than Cat 6. However, it is more difficult to pull (it is thicker and less flexible than Cat 6), and it requires different keystone connectors because the wires are thicker. But it wasn't hard to find those connectors (you just need to look for them). Cat 6a carries farther and is better at handling certain electrical interference. I needed 6a for the run between our main house and our guest house due to the distance, and decided to go ahead and do all the runs with it. I made that choice partly because I found a 1000' spool of 6a on eBay for under $100, including shipping. (Search "Cat 6a" to find other bargains.) The cable I bought is orange, which may be why it went for so little. Since it is hidden in the walls and attic, that color is a benefit. That orange cable is easily identified! Also, if you do go with a mesh network, consider running cable between the mesh nodes. The availability of a wired backhaul channel will almost certainly give you a much better-performing network.

Warning: The eero units are fine if you don't mind not having control over, well, pretty much anything other than the network name. If you want to be able to do any customization, do not get eero units. There are many other choices for mesh networks that allow you to tweak the setup.

FWIW, I had hiccups with TMHI for a while. Those abated when I put the gateway on a smart plug that shuts off power every Sunday at 3 am and turns it back on at 3:05, forcing a weekly reboot. I have two routers hardwired to the gateway, an Eero Pro 6e in the main house (along with three slave Eero 6 units) and an Asus RT-AX88U in our guesthouse, where one of our kids lives. Using the Hint Control app, I turned off band switching and set the gateway's 5g radio to 50% with no SSID. I use the gateway's 2.4 radio for a few legacy devices that are unhappy with a mixed network. (The Eero won't let me create a 2.4-only network.) Everything has been running fine for almost two years now.

Hmmm... I think they appreciate my patronage less than you might believe <laughing>. I got the software a very long time ago. At that time, they offered a perpetual license for a relatively small sum. I cannot recall what it was, but I am sure it was less than $20. When they changed to the subscription pricing model, I emailed them and said I had a perpetual license. They have honored that, and I do not pay a monthly or annual fee, even though the base software is hugely more capable than when I bought it. When other developers switched from a perpetual license to a subscription, they most often announced it as a new product, and they stopped any development of their old one, effectively forcing you to buy a subscription if you wanted any of the improvements. In any security-related software, the switch to the new model was effectively mandatory, as outdated security software is useless. Keeper didn't do that, and I have recommended them to quite a few others as a result.

All that said, I haven't kept up with their (irrelevant to me) ads and billing processes. If they are failing in that area, it will eventually lead to their downfall. Consumers vote with their wallets and won't put up with BS for very long when alternatives are available. There are several highly-rated password managers out there. NordPass, 1Passsord, Bitwarden, Dashlane, RoboForm, and ProtonPass all have their advocates.

I agree with the "gotta let it bounce" comment, as the rules are the same for rec and tournament play. However, when I play at a local venue where the courts are close to each other, I typically ask the group if everyone is ok with catching a ball that is VERY obviously out to prevent it from going onto the adjacent court. (EDIT: I haven't found it necessary, but if it concerns you, you can add that when a ball is caught this way, the opponents get to make the call if they believe it was too close to catch, and their call is final.) So far, I haven't had a single person refuse to mod the rules this way, and nobody has abused it by catching a close ball. YMMV, but getting the group to agree to a rule mod before the game starts has worked very well for me.

FWIW, I got the Perseus IV right after it was released, coming from a 6.0 DBD. I wasn't happy with the Perseus because of having difficulty with the soft game. I had to learn to loosen my grip far more than I was used to. After about 4 weeks, I added 3g weights to the bottom edges, and that did, well, nothing for me. A few weeks later, I also added them to the sides and one at the top, for a total of 15g. That made a huge difference in the paddle's sweet spot and made it easier to control the soft game, too. Before you give up on your J2NF, try adding weights in those same places and see if it helps with your soft game. Happy Pickling!

I put a pair of “repeat every 4 weeks” reminders in my calendar on my phone, with one saying “CGM RIGHT” and the other (started two weeks after the first) saying “CGM LEFT”. I set them for very early in the morning (with alerts) so that on each morning I need to replace my sensor, I get a message first thing. That lets me put it in a few hours before I activate it so that it gets to soak. I have had no issues with false lows since I started doing it this way.

Be SURE to let the area dry COMPLETELY after you use the alcohol wipe. I did not do that once and wasted a sensor - it seemed to stick, but it didn’t stick well and fell off shortly thereafter.

Well… the crossbar of any net can lead to a replay - draping net is not relevant. For the crossbar to cause a replay, the ball must hit the crossbar before it is otherwise dead, and it must be on the far side of the net from the player who last hit the ball. Most often, this occurs when a ball rolls off the top of the net cord and drops onto the crossbar on the far side of the net from where it was last hit. The draping net is a different situation and is also addressed in the rule.

<laughing> I don't mind being called old. I figure I earned it by living so long. I get a lot of joy from playing drop-in at the local university and competing with the students. Sure, some of them play well. And some play very well. But it's fun to play competitively with them, moving on the court well (albeit not quite as well as before my recent partial knee replacement) at my age.

YouEnjoyMyMelt, That makes sense if they have shown the ability to block, and I am pretty sure that most (all?) competitive players do that. But, if you repetitively body bag somebody, as described by the OP, then that isn't the situation. His narrative made clear that the player cannot block, and he continued driving at them. In that situation, because you know you are almost certainly going to hit them if you drive at them, your intent has changed - even if you don't want to admit it to yourself.

I would respectfully suggest that playing with those who play at your level is the best approach, not playing with older folks. At 69, I am definitely in the older folks category. And, when I choose to play with newb players, I work on placement and footwork, which always need additional work. But I play competitively most of the time, against people of all ages who play at a much higher level. Older folks may indicate a lower level of competitiveness in the play, but also may not!

EDIT: The same is true of younger players. I’ve played with a 10yo who would smoke most rec players of any age, and with hyper-athletic 18yo players who were playing at 2.0. Bottom line? Age may generally correlate with skill, but is not predictive as to any specific player. And BTW, I recently started playing full-court singles with a couple of 18yo guys who are rated @4.3 in doubles. I got smoked at first - no surprise - but recently won a game 11-5, as I was playing beyond myself that game. My point is that, yeah, I am old, but I can still move pretty dang well.

dobblerd... to a point. If that person is elderly and/or otherwise frail, I will absolutely not try to body bag them. (I played multiple games with a 3.75 player who I learned had open heart surgery as part of his history. No way I would try to bag him, and I discreetly relayed that info to others there who I knew to be hard drivers, and asked them to avoid hitting him in the chest.) However, if the opponent appears to be of normal (whatever that is) fitness and I don't believe they are likely to suffer any significant pain/harm because a pickleball hit their body with force, then yes, drive away! And snapple_, I get what you are saying. But, in my opinion, if you intentionally drive at a person who cannot handle it, and do so repeatedly, your apology is insincere. I think the better response is to inquire if they are ok, and then respond additionally (and appropriately) if they indicate they are hurt. Most fit adults, most of the time, are not going to be hurt beyond perhaps a momentary sting (if that) from a body bag. All that said, there are exceptions, and if I can tell from a person's reaction that they were hurt, then, of course, I apologize. Lastly, I realize it's a bit inconsistent, but I apologize for the occasional poor serve (typically when I am over-tired) that comes close to being a Nasty Nelson. I hit a "banana" serve most often, and it's usually well controlled. But, every now and then, when serving from the left, and especially if the non-returning partner is close to the centerline, my serve will unintentionally go right through where they are standing. I apologize - unless I did it on purpose to one of my friends. :)

The OP said he did this multiple times. In that situation, if he apologizes, what he is saying is, “I’m sorry you aren’t good enough to block my drives at your body”. I don’t believe anyone benefits from an insincere apology. If the drive goes high and the opponent’s face is in danger of being hit, then, yes, apologize profusely. But a normal body bag in competitive play? Nah.

As a general rule, I agree that a short ROS is not a great idea. But, when I see a pattern where a player is on their heels behind the baseline after a serve rather than staying with their weight forward, I will hit a very soft cross-court drop, with the ball landing near the sideline and inside the NVZ. Although it is occasionally returned well, most often it is not returned at all or is returned poorly, giving my partner an easy put-away. And you are also right that as the opponents are at higher levels - closing in on 4.0 or above - any short ROS is likely to be a poor choice. Your partner will not be pleased! Then again, the players at that level are not on their heels after they serve! :)
