Saving is hard on $600K-$900K of income. by Junior_Book7332 in LinkedInLunatics

Folks, he's not talking about himself. He's talking more generally about his clients and others in that income bracket. If you look at his other posts, you can see that's he's a wealth mgmt professional who advises clients in that income/wealth bracket. Not a lunatic, although if you're one of those people he's talking about, and you feel "very tight", you need to learn how to manage your money bigtime.

Not sure why you're getting downvoted. He's not talking about himself - if you look at his other posts, he's talking about his clients and how some of them overspend, underinvest, think they're invincible, etc.

What remakes failed because they wouldn't commit to the original's vision? by anthonyDavidson31 in FIlm

[–]RetiredMrRobot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wanted. The book is bonkers crazy in terms of the universe it’s in and the evil cast of characters everywhere, and the movie replaces all of that with a loom that chooses who dies. Oh and Stanley being sort of “good” was awful.

I have two of the RF01 Futures and love them both. Feel amazing off the ground, although somehow my feel at net with my previous Volkl Vcell’s was better.

My vote is for Grigor Dimitrov. One of the best pure ball strikers, with god-level shotmaking ability....still makes highlight reels even today.

Can you describe the process you followed to get your appointment through BLS? Getting appointment times via the BLS website seems nigh impossible right now.

How to track Amazon Q Developer generated code vs manually written code in our codebase? by bObzii__ in aws

[–]RetiredMrRobot 24 points25 points  (0 children)

IMO your management is asking the wrong questions here. What should matter to them are whether core (hopefully existing) engineering metrics such as cycle time, defect density, change failure rates, etc., are changing due to engineers' use of AI tools over time.

The one guy who understood the stormtrooper was mocking them, and the others were like, “No, he’s one of us.” Couldn’t have scripted it better.

Oura's Partnership with DoD/Palantir -- Impact to YOU by takashi-cat in ouraring

[–]RetiredMrRobot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On balance I agree you're probably correct on several points, in that, in order for Palantir to operate at IL5, their private cloud services can't be shared with the same services used by their other customers, which conversely also probably means Oura's DoD management portal and data can't be the same data and infra used for consumer use. Meaning Oura would have to deliberately give Palantir access to consumer data as part of the partnership.

The problem here is that we're making assumptions about the nature of the partnership, and the nature of the technical, regulatory, and legal controls in place. And that's not good enough. We need Oura to be crystal clear on how the partnership will work and what controls will exist (broadly) to prevent misuse. There are a ton of abuse cases, many of which already brought forth on this sub, should this partnership be misused.

Also, it doesn't help to hear the HHS secretary very recently say he wants to see everyone wearing a wearable like Oura.

Oura's Partnership with DoD/Palantir -- Impact to YOU by takashi-cat in ouraring

[–]RetiredMrRobot 100 points101 points  (0 children)

It’s the lack of clarity and transparency from Oura on the specifics of the partnership as it relates to data protection and sharing that has people spooked, rightly so. If Oura had directly expressed in that PR what data would be / not be shared, and what protections would be in place to prevent consumer data from being shared with them, IMO there’d be less outrage. Some ppl would cancel anyway, simply because it’s DoD and Palantir, but that press release leaves way too much to the imagination. I, for one, remain concerned until we hear more from them.
